Went to a WM yesterday after last weeks drop just to see the carnage. I was surprised to see:
7 TC Megas
9 NBA Prizm Megas
2 trays of NBA Prizm Cellos
1 tray with about 12 NBA Prizm hanger packs
At least 15 NBA Chronicles Blasters
9 NBA Optic blasters
Usually by the end of the weekend this stuff is gone and all that remained are Wild Card products, Chronicles Draft NBA, Topps Factory Baseball sets and Goodwin. And for some reason a lot of hockey…
I live in Louisiana BTW, a hot bed for hockey it seems

My walmart has been full of Chrome, NBA Prizm and pretty much everything else for weeks. The only spot that has been empty has been Spidey Metal.

Surprisingly the last few weeks Walmart >>> Target. They have a new queue system that seems to be doing well... the only thing that sucks (kinda) is they usually restrict to qty 1, and don't allow for multiple orders of the same product...

All that Prizm and Optic BBall...wouldn't last 5 minutes on the shelf the last two years and now they can't get rid of it.

They can’t get rid of it? Yeah, no. That picture was clearly taken right after the vendor got done stocking, and I guarantee the Optic & Prizm will not last long.

It has been sitting on the shelf (Prizm) for over three weeks now at my local walmart - there are other observations of this in this thread. Optic was more recently released but it has been on the shelf here for over a week.

Of course depending on your area and the flipper traffic you may see something different. I can only share what I see.

I see Prizm Mega's as low as $70, blasters at $33 (inc shipping), Optic blasters for $31-32 (inc shipping) on ebay...not much room for flipping at those prices but there is a ton of it listed. Yes, there are higher listed offers/sales in past few days but I was looking for how low sellers are willing to part with the product at. As the flippers get more desperate (due to plenty of product still available in store for msrp) the prices will keep dropping.

There is no shortage of Optic or Prizm basketball this time around...fake or actual. People are slowly learning they don't have to pay the insane 3rd party markup anymore on most new products (minus an obvious few like spidey, GPK Sapphire, Logofractor, etc).

the basketball product will be gone from target within a week when the vendor next comes in. retail was never meant to be such a good value that whoever first fell on the stock rolled $2k worth of product up to the register and cashed it out. times are changing.

The top rookies sell for $10-$15 on a good day and silver/holos for $75-$125

What's the point?
The odds are terrible to hit top rookie silver too.

Probably open that whole shelf and not hit a $100 raw card.

It's like the flippers can't flip it for profit and the collector won't buy for the price.

Do you think of the dumbest possible take you can have before making a post on here? Because that's what it seems like.

You are literally posting on a collectors/hobby forum.

Not that I disagree on his takes, but this is more of a 50/50 collectors/flippers forum. Many of the people here are in it for the flips to make a buck - this forum is much more business oriented than most.

That’s not my experience at all. I live near multiple Targets and Walmarts, and I didn’t find a single basketball product in a store from around Feb 2020 (when I found a small 2019-20 Optic restock) until maybe late 2021 (when I started to occasionally see something like a lone Hoops or Donruss blaster). Now in late 2022, I see plenty of garbage like Wild Card, Prizm Draft, Chronicles Draft, etc. but I still never see anything like Prizm or Optic.

There’s a Target I check at least once per week, sometimes more, and I was there last week and found nothing. A couple days later, I found an empty Prizm NBA retail box with no packs left in it, and there was no sign of cellos, blasters, or megas, so if any of those were there, they all got snatched up quickly. There were some Chronicles and Illusions fat packs there, so I know a bunch of stuff had to be restocked recently.

It doesn’t really matter all that much because I’ve been able to find enough stuff online at SRP, so I haven’t had to pay resale prices at all, which is a good thing. It’s just annoying to always see people talk about how retail is sitting and not selling, and nobody wants it blah blah blah, whereas I haven’t found any premium product in a store in 3 years. I don’t know who’s buying up all the retail near me, but someone definitely is.

You’re the worst. I’ve literally never seen you make one positive comment ever. So if I can’t make tons of $$$ by ripping retail and flipping singles, that means it’s worthless? People have been buying and ripping retail forever dude, and it’s not stopping anytime soon, especially as long as hobby box prices are still grossly overpriced.

You’re still the worst, and I do. I need about 100 cards to finish my Prizm base set and around 75 to finish Optic. Just because you’re not a real collector doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
