Rated Rookie 1/1 on the bay now. Looks like it was pulled from a blaster

$25K min bid for non-logo non-auto card seems extremely high, even for a rookie card of his.

I totally get the appeal to US1. It's a cool image and you could get them cheap for a long time. I like the card and have a PSA 9 Gold.

But if all you're thinking about is investing, Series 2 is the no-brainer. Can someone point out an example where a player had a Series 1 or 2 card and their Update card became more popular/valuable? I can't think of a single example.

Series 2 is first Flagship (unquestionably, which seems to be a point of debate for some players lately) and is a clean, elegant image of Ohtani at the top of his wind up from a low angle, giving him a larger, more powerful impression in the frame. I love it.

But hey, priority #1 should be to have fun so collect what you like and you'll never be wrong.

Has never dropped below $2k. Think I got mine for like 2.2 and it was super clean (very condition sensitive). With the exception of some crazy Bowman Pitching parallel autos, this is the Ohtani grail as far as I'm concerned.

Bowman Pitching base Auto never went below 500 range. That card is the mainstream big boy.

For me, a big factor is that S2 has the better looking parallels. The curtain design on red/blue/indie is also more symmetrical than update. Foilboard is only in S2 as well as the Sapphire.

Needless dichotomy. Is 89 Griffey Topps Traded cooler than '89 Griffey Upper Deck? Who cares, both are critical for any Griffey collection. I'm sure one is worth more than the other but I love them both.

I'm more interested in Ohtani ascending to Griffey levels as I've got a couple of both US1 & S2700

I bought the black last night. Put up a bid about 2 hours before it ended and then went to sleep 6 minutes before it ended. I fully expected to wake up to a "sorry you missed it" email. Instead, it is shipping today. I don't really have any Ohtani cards, but I feel like I stole this one. Trueblue, your cards are nasty!!

The PSA 10 black? Thats an awesome card. Thought it would go for double what it ended at.

Great buy. You'll see from this thread that a solid chunk of the blacks across both sets are in the hands of only a few people

The majority of his homeruns are majestic.

Now 19/29 hits are for XB!

This is magical. No idea how this guy isn't getting more of a pump. HR leader and a 2.41 ERA and a 14.5 K/9

Like, wut

I prefer to keep some of those pump/flip guys out of this thread. But yeah, that's an MVP resume so far.

^This. It’s been nice to not have much of the normal rhetoric. Or pump. Or POMO. Or general noise.

And I think I might need to remove an organ to someday pay for an icon.

If this is what his yearly type performance is to be going foward he wins the MVP every year and it will not be close. Amazing stuff.

So at this rate, he would have:

37 doubles
10 triples
54 home runs
129 RBI
31 steals
..

102 innings
37 hits
102 walks
162 strikeouts

LOL. Talk about a stat line.

If the Angels cant build a .500 team around Trout and Ohtani, there is no hope for them. Just contract the franchise.
