Over a year??? I get annoyed when the Cubs go without a card in 3 months. Woof!

Wow!

I hadn't realized it had been that long between Diamondbacks cards.

Prior to this week's release, the last Diamondbacks card was #630 Gabriel Moreno, released the week of 6/7/2023.

I'm glad you got another card!

Didn't realize it'd been that long since a D-Back was featured. It's definitely a bummer when you go a long time without a card on your team. I know the Royals just ended a big drought. My two teams are currently on some long dry spells. Yainer Diaz was the last Astro on Dec 6. It will be 11 full months at the next release date. Nolan Jones was the last Rockie on April 12, 2023...almost 19 months ago!

The Award Winners tab is complete in my spreadsheet.

The list includes the following accolades.
  • MVP
  • Cy Young
  • Rookie of the Year
  • Manager of the Year
I've also included the year, card no., team, and artist for the corresponding Living Set card.

If a player has been featured in the set, but not with the team for which he won the award, the Living Set card has been italicized.

Please let me know if there are additional awards you'd like me to add, or if another data set interests anyone.

I know the Diamondbacks (and other newer teams) won't get as many cards as teams with longer histories, but I think each team should get at least two per year.

The last Washington Nationals card was CJ Abrams - card #549 on 8/31/22. That must be the record. Looking forward to James Wood and Dylan Crews cards in 2025/

Sounds fair to me...kind of like the All-Star game having to have a representative from every team.

I've always thought the same. With 104 cards a year that still gives you 44 cards to give over the two limit for teams with a lot of exciting rookies that year, lots of retired vets still not featured, etc. Even the newer teams still have plenty of retired guys they could feature if all the current players worth doing are already featured.

If we're thinking two cards per active team each year, that would still leave plenty of room for rookies, veterans, and past players, as MtnAg08 mentioned.

If we adjust it to two cards per active franchise, there's more wiggle room.

As Natsfan32 mentioned, the last Nationals card was #549 CJ Abrams, released the week of 8/31/2022. Even crazier, the art was done by Seto, so neither Aviles nor Kelley have drawn a Nationals player.

However, we have had three Expos cards since the last Nationals card.
  • #580 Tim Raines (Seto)
  • #604 Felipe Alou (Aviles)
  • #640 Moises Alou (Aviles)
In that case, the Nationals have a 2-year drought, but the franchise last received a card the week of 7/12/2023. Still more than a year ago, which I agree, is disappointing.

Living Set trivia question: I believe Kelley actually did paint a Nationals player. Who was it?

He painted Schwarber, but had to change the hat to Boston at the last minute because Schwarber had just been traded.

I actually had to research this myself

I've only painted 2 Nationals since working on the Living Set. I painted Luis Garcia in 2021. There is indeed one other (not counting the Schwarber edit - good recall on that one JolietJake).

By the way, the Nationals and the Miami Marlins are tied for my all-time least painted among active MLB teams, both having only 2 players represented.

I remembered Jazz, but I had to look up the second player, Trevor Rogers.

It's a great not-so-subtle Easter egg.

Angel & Jared, any change both of you might have some sway with Topps about bringing back the yearly subscription for LS orders? Hopefully other weekly collectors feel the same way I do!
