Never bought Topps 1 before. sheer quantity of cards has always been intimidating to me. Can anyone opine on the differences between hobby and jumbo cases and which you prefer?

I've always preferred Hobby over Jumbo. I'm a dinosaur and still build sets, so your cost per card is cheaper with hobby. You are sacrificing 2 "hits" with hobby though. However 99% of the time those hits are worth $2.00. Flagship is not about hits IMO, so I'm ok with the trade off.

You're going to get members on both sides, if you're worried about too many cards go with jumbo.Cheaper, less cards and more hits.

For the most part the only hits you are missing in hobby compared to jumbo are like what Chrisyork33 said, you are basically not getting a few worthless relic cards hobby is fun and seems to deliver nice hits not that jumbo wont.

I see.. thanks for responses. I just went with 2 cases each hobby/jumbo. Seems like a great deal esp with 48 silver packs

I did the same.. 3/3 though. I prefer hobby over jumbo but hate to hear of folks getting monster hits out of Jumbo and not having any jumbo...

Loved the silver packs last year.
I hit a red auto /5 Chris Bryant in my silver packs..

It almost looks more Bowman ish than Topps. It is weird they keep sticking with this border less stuff. Parallels look better with borders.

I agree, I think the wave on one side with the pixelation on the other is unnecessary. I think they could have done one or the other and it would have been better.

In my experience it is cheaper to build a set from Jumbo (probably unless you are building multiple sets). I've only once not had a complete set in a jumbo box and I've never been able to complete a set from two hobby boxes because I never hit the collation lottery.

Unless you're building master sets.
More base inserts in hobby.

Absolutely! Borders are much nicer, and also easier to differentiate year to year. I grew to like the 2016 parallels, but the 2017 stuff looked terrible from the start and never got better, IMO.

Cards don’t look that appealing to me. I have no idea why Topps took borders off the set. I really doubt I buy any unless the refractors miraculously look good.

Does anyone remember what the original preorder case prices were for both hobby and jumbo?

Design is OK. Not the best, not the worst. Could do without the wave, but otherwise it's fine
They should release him in his Pirates uniform, since that's where he's going to be in a few days.

Anybody figured out whether or not it will be easier to build the 1983 subset through Hobby or Jumbo?

Anyone familiar with about how many complete sets/master sets you get in a typical hobby case and a typical jumbo case?
