I think you may be misinterpreting his post. He's in Auburn, so my guess would be that he's taunting Mathis a bit.

This hobby is turning to crap.
It's really not the hobby.

Where money is to be made, scum will follow. Unfortunately the sports card industry seems to have been ripe for this type of thing. Disgusting.

Plenty of “regular” people need the hobby to be a little shady...it’s what’s necessary for real profit.

All the more reason to not pay for the high end graded stuff. I like 5s, 6s, and 7s because you can see the edge touches and subtle wear which means you know it is unaltered. I look through my stuff from the 50s and 60s and you can tell the blades that cut these cards years ago was not the sharpest blade on the planet but that tells me it is unaltered. Pretty tough to recreate that kind of authentic cut.

Couldn't care less. I think its all comical. Folks thinking the sky is falling and that something is actually going to happen to, change anything about or influence what is already being done is just funny to me. I laughed out loud to the response. I am legit an Evan Mathis fan. Was at Alabama (funny, but I'm a bama fan living in Auburn)... and when he won a Super Bowl with my boy Demarcus Ware in Denver. This doesn't change that whether he did or did not do it. If graded companies certified the items and people paid for them I really can't understand how he is personally going to get any kind of punishment here. Does anyone have hard proof of EXACTLY what happened and who did what?

Would I personally do it? Absolutely not. I do find it unethical... but we are talking about cardboard here... not cancer treatments. I would also never spend the money some folks do on another man's opinion either.

Ehhh I don't know if this is completely true. I just like turning $2 cards into $15-20 and $8-10 cards into $30-40. Sorry if I'm wrong for that. I don't care about this side of things really. Too many people have too much money tied up. I am highly entertained by it though. Especially all the responses. My (3) boy's bathroom is currently "disgusting". Losing my last living grandparent last month was "sad".... this... this is just more interesting more than anything. Doesn't affect my life one bit.

BODA has shown that the card doctors can recreate rough edges that normally exist on ‘50s cards, and have demonstrated that card doctors can artificially round edges.

Subtle wear can be faked.

I wonder if it’s more profitable for card doctors and their acquaintances to alter many low to mid grade cards than a few high grade ones. But whatever the case may be, they’re almost certainly practicing, honing and testing their skills on lower end stuff and seeing how the system works using it.

The NFL should be pissed that a former player is committing fraud. I watched a video showcasing his collection and the dude seemed a little off.

Nahhh if he truly is "defrauding" people that's his business. He'll have to meet his creator and answer for his actions one day... I'm not his judge.

Remember... I said doing such things is unethical. Not sure how that "cheers him on".

We are still talking about baseball cards though. And please explain... Based on "the Law"... honestly... what has he done illegally?

Really not understanding these responses. No... I haven't been scammed... that I can recall and I'm not sure who pennywise the clown is.

He's just saying you're a clown and people think you're a joke. Pennywise was the clown in the movie "IT" if I'm not mistaken. It was a horror movie. So maybe he's not saying you're a joke, but a horrible scary person that nobody likes or has any desire to be around. Not sure though.

I’m just saying he’s a clown and thought pennywise would be a good example
