There are plenty of cards and multiple price points available. It's just this entitlement nature of "I want THIS card at THIS price and now I can't have that anymore".
This is true. As much as all these Gary V hanger-ons bother me, outside of having to pretty much quit my Prizm RC PC it hasn't really effected my other PC purchasing too much.

I wrote this in the Gary V thread, but relevant here too..

Ever since Gary V's entry into the hobby, and subsequently the rise in the "card investor" we've obviously seen prices and production go up, but i've also noticed that rare cards i've never seen before are starting to show on eBay and the like. More 90's collectors are rejoining and seeing a card that was worth $15 10 years ago now go for $150 and looking to cash in, whereas before it probably wasn't worth the effort to even list. For myself i'm talking about Nuggets guys from the 90's to early 2000's here, probably a bunch of people would be scratching their heads trying to remember the names of guys i'm buying, lol. But regardless, I might be paying a little more for those cards in the current market but if we hadn't entered this new junk wax era I may have never gotten a chance to own them.

You might not be exposed, but the guy thinking about buying cards from you is.

Anyone buying LeBron Topps rookies clearly wasn't exposed...I just saw a raw base go for over $500. What a time to be alive!

Not me and that's what I do for a living. Keep up with the strawman though since you have no logical response.

The whole point of pointing out a bubble is that it has NOT popped yet. You can't use the very existence of a high prices to say that prices have not come down yet, sheesh. Do better next time.

And if you don't care about $$$, why even make these posts?
I have no idea what this means, none at all.

I do care about warning newbies about what's going on in the industry. Panini won't tell you. eBay won't tell you. Gary V and the Pump N Dumpers won't tell you. PSA won't tell you. Beckett guides won't tell you. Flippers won't tell you. Box hoarders won't tell you. People that want to take advantage of others' naivete won't tell you, in fact they'll lie to you early and often.

Started collecting and attending shows in 1980, been to dozens of large shows and Nationals. This is my first and only bubble call on cards.

I correctly called the Bitcoin bubble above $15k [down 50%] and the internet bubble in early 2000 [down 85-100% on most names] and I have the receipts to prove it. Some people think Tesla's gonna go up forever, they'll learn differently I assure you.

Of course, it's fair for the SuperBulls to point out that timing is always tricky.

I'm certainly not predicting this will all vanish in 3 months or even 12 months, bubbles usually last longer than anyone expects and there's money to be made for those who enjoy the Greater Fool Theory.

Some of these cards could go up another 50-100% before dropping 80-90%. My guess is less than 2 years away but could be as soon as the offseason or next Zion injury [hopefully not!]

You are right. It is hard to find but there is still some opportunity out there. While everyone is buying Lebron Topps Chrome and base, I have seen some RC serial numbered cards sell for much less than they should. As the pop report explodes for the chrome and base cards, the serial number cards basically remain the same. One day the masses will realize the topps chrome is not the 86 Fleer Jordan. There are many other choices. Some with a small finite number attached to them.

I think this is the absolute best time to cash in on modern/hyped stuff and buy vintage. I just sold 2 PSA 10 Base Rookies of guys who have yet to play complete full seasons in the mlb and Picked up a Jim Brown Rookie (always wanted one) felt like a no brainer to me.

I’ve moved from vintage baseball to modern basketball to share my hobby with my youngest son. I stopped collecting for many years because my older kids had zero interest modern baseball, never mind pre-war. Now my 13 year old walks with me to the post office everyday...love it.

This isn't directed towards any one person but more towards everyone who's grumpy about it and being negative. If you're worried about it then get out? Don't piss on everyone's parade if you're unhappy with what's going on in the hobby. Most people on here aren't idiots and don't need to be led by the hand. There's like 15 threads on this now. You could get in the game and join the fun? It's much funner than standing on the sidelines bitching about it. Or i guess you can just keep complaining.

Why are you trying to have fun in here? The world is ending and so is the hobby. This thread is for discussion of that.

It sure is!

And this is not directed at you Khal, but anyone posting constantly about bubbles and worrying. If youre worried about losing the money you have into your cards, your "investment", you likely have way to much of your money into cards. My 2 pennies, for what its worth.

It's odd to me seeing some of the same people (not all) grumping and griping about the 2019-20 class and its 'unhealthy' effects on wax and singles prices along with arab money 'wax hoarders' for the past 3 months...quickly changing their tune saying this new parabolic rise in psa slabs is healthy for the hobby and shouldn't be questioned but rather enjoyed.

I'm all for it if opinions and lines of reasoning remain constant, but this seems to me like a very large conflict of interest. It's all good when you're holding the gold bars...not quite so much when you're not.

p.s.: keep pumping them fatbois though. daddy needs new seat covers on the Corolla.

As certain “singles” price are rising up and up, i agree with some that it wont be sustainable
How about the wax/sealed boxes of those “singles”
Will the older wax price going up be sustainable?
What do you think?

I might sound like a broken record here, but I think unopened upper deck from 1996-2009 is still undervalued, and especially 2003-2009.

-arguably 3 of the top 5 players to play in the history of the NBA (Jordan/Kobe/Lebron)with auto's of all three possible across many products. (I'm not here to argue each player's place on the NBA mantle)
-classic designs in multiple products which will likely never be duplicated
-supply (while still plentiful) drying up

Also undervalued: 2012 prizm.

Heres a list of serial numbered Lebron RCs that are still cheap. It's short but it's a list.

2003 UD Hardcourt Futures /799 BGS 8.5 sold for $310
2003 Topps Pristine #103 /499 BGS 9.5 sold $518
2003 Topps Pristine #102 /999 BGS 9 sold $286
2003 Hoops Top Prospects /999 BGS 8.5 sold $249

Even the Topps Finest /999 have been selling cheap. BGS 8.5 for 850. That card is so much cooler than the Topps Chrome and it's rare.

Those have all sold within the last week.

There is a 2003 Black Diamond Double Diamond RC patch card #BD2LJ /250 for sale on ebay $720 obo.

2003 SP Game Used #107 /999 BGS 9 for sale obo $419 ebay
