Methinks that Saints coach who said he expects Rattler to compete for the starting job on Day 1 needs to get his peepers checked

Maybe next year I’ll refrain from posting who I’m excited about and at the end of the season we can have a contest where people get to guess who I collected based on how big of a dumpster fire their rookie year was.

I collect Derek Carr, so I am biased and will get bashed on as well. I also collect players I taught at Fresno State who barely lasted a season in the NFL.

As a Carr fan, I would be careful around the hype Rattler is getting. The hatred towards Carr drives irrational hype on rookie QB's. The fact is Carr is going to be a starter the next few years barring an injury, which he plays through many of them. Carr is more likely to be a top 10 passing yards leader in the history of the NFL than Rattler will become a full-time starter in the league. Before you laugh at the top 10 passing yards leader in the history of the NFL, check this out.

Full disclosure: I like Carr. The guy wears his heart on his sleeve and would take a bullet for his teammates.

Rattler may be in a great position 2 years from now. The Saints are finally stopping this nonsense of pushing money back. No rookie QB could make it through the season with the Saints Online. Rookie RT that is moving to LT for the first time in his career. Then they have Penning at RT after he failed two years at LT.

What quarterback coming out of Bama has done anything since Stabler, Namath and Starr. The Bear Bryant days have long gone.

As far as Spencer, there has been little noise coming from this rattler compared to the fore mentioned quarterback.

Rattler did very well overall yesterday. He’s throwing to pathetic receivers and the best of which Olave, he didn’t even have. For the first half of the game, although he was playing not to make mistakes and didn’t see the whole field, he protected the ball and had a good completion %. The second half in desperation mode, he had to fling it all over causing two turnovers and a lower completion %. All in all for the most part, he was poised and look comfortable. I like what I saw from him. I want to see more with a commitment to running the ball and maybe with a true # 1 WR at his disposal. This team better address the WR position via trade, free agency or draft

Fun fact : I stated this thread in 2020 when Rattler had a great game at OU. Today I bought my first pack of 2024 Prizm and guess who I pulled? Rattler RC, lol, worth a whole buck. I just had to come back and bump this old thread.
