I will agree that blasters are trash. Waste of money. Buy Hobby boxes if you are gonna rip archives. Hits are in the Hobby boxes.

No issue with the design but no reason for all 3 sets having 100 cards each and the 1965 design has 4 cards per pack compared to 1-2 each of the others. Maybe others are different but that is how both blasters I got were.

I opened 2 collector boxes, 2 hobby boxes and 3 blasters and I have completed 1-100 and 201-300 but still need 6 more of the 1965 (101-200) to complete the full set.

If anyone needs help completing base sets, I’m sure I can fill most of your base set needs.

Let me try my calculations in public:

Hobby Box, $125 / 96 cards = $1.30 / card
(+2 autos)

Collector Box, $65 / 80 cards = 81¢ / card
(+1 lunch box)

Blaster Box, $30 / 56 cards = 54¢ / card

Completed base, $100 / 300 cards = 33¢ / card

2022 Archives commons on Sportlots = 20¢ / card, Stars $1+

So to build a pleasing little binder flip it looks like using Hobby boxes requires adding about 6 $40 lottery tickets (the autos) along the way. Lottery tickets are fun but the 3D glasses are only $2.50 or so to check out by purchasing separately.

The Collector Box would leave me with a cool looking lunch box that would mostly just gather dust somewhere but might have a lot higher functionality than those 2021 collector tins. Maybe keep toploaders in one, has a handle at least. Using one to carry an actual lunch would be fun too, but I doubt very many microwave containers fit in them, bummer. Building via collector box would require dealing with 4 or so leftover lunch boxes.

Blasters would be hard to calculate the price when entire packs are duplicated.

I do kinda wanna see the parallels, in-hand, to see what-might-have-been in the 2003 design. And imagine the Willson Contreras card in a Powder Blue parallel, something Topps hasn’t figured out to try yet as everyone is addicted to Ooooohhh, shiny, which I don’t always care for with 20th Century players. Archives used to create more classy parallels than it has lately.

I also want to check out the 3D Tarzan style cards in-hand, just, because. And make a little progress on the 57HS inserts, though possible by any sealed format. But other Hobby inserts also remain to see as well.

So overall I sm leaning towards blowing almost a Benjamin on a couple Lottery tickets (would -any- auto in this break $40 in value? seems doubtful) and a little pile of $1-$2 cards leftover, with about half the set left to go (have 70-ish base from first 2 blasters). But I probably won’t complete the 56s, just the other 2 selections. Using a raw digital photo for the underlying image only sometimes works, for me. Then I would just need 100-ish cards from the other 2 styles, for maybe $35-40-ish via Sportlots later on down the road. Or maybe add one Collector Lunch Box and use that to throw all those 2nd round draft pick RCs in for a few years, you know, just in case. Would be a fun improvement over the current storage solution.

I totally agree that the foil shiny parallels are no where near as nice as the matte powder blue, gold, red, green, etc they have done in the past. They don’t look right.

For me, the main disappointment has been some of the player choices for the 1969 "Image Variation" checklist. Having one active player and one retired player per team in nice in concept, except for the fact that it means leaving a lot of big names out of the set (Ohtani, Acuna, Ichiro, etc.). I would have liked to see the set expanded to 100 players so that certain teams could have more than one player.

For me the most disappointing choices were:

Michael Harris instead of Acuna for Braves active player.
Chipper Jones instead of Hank Aaron for Braves retired player.
Mazeroski instead of Clemente for Pirates retired player.
Nomar instead of Ted Williams or Yaz for Red Sox retired player.
Ozzie Smith instead of Musial for Cards retired player.
David Wright instead of Tom Seaver for Mets retired player.
McGwire instead of Reggie Jackson or Rickey Henderson for A's retired player.
