Thats a nice Jackie inaka, and I snagged one of my own a few months back.

Been ages since I have posted here, and I finally got some pictures of a number of cards to post.
Got a bunch back from SGC, many I bought raw then submitted........... so here's my newest vintage pickups.

Raw , cheap pickups that I sent to SGC (both came back a 4).................

'53 Topps Jackie - Picked it up on Net54, already graded. I had been looking for one of these with good color, and edges and corners that look decent. The one bad chipped lower right corner is holding the grade down on this one.
I suppose if I ever reach the age of 71, I will expect a fair amount of chipping too.........
Jackie Robinson Exhibits - Picked this up raw (at a great price) and even though I'm positive its NOT TRIMMED , it got hit with the "minimum size not met". Watching Ebay and a few other sites, that "minimum size not met" is a common occurrence on these Jackie exhibits.

World Series Batting Foes - This is one of the cleanest/clearest/no SNOW copies of this card I've ever seen. Another net54 purchase.
'66 Mantle - I picked this one up raw at a fair price.......the seller and I agreed it might be in the 5-ish range. Good surprise it came back a 5.5.

'55 Bowman Mantle. I picked this up raw in early 2020, I think I paid about $150 for it, maybe even a tad less.
I figured this one would grade authentic due to some not-very-noticeable wrinkles, gum stains on the back and of course chipping.
Pleasantly surprised when it came back a 1.5.
'58 Mantle A.S. - Picked this up raw on the cheap, and it graded a 5.
'68 Mantle - Its obviously trimmed. It's such a hack job I can envision a child with scissors going to work. Nabbed that one for $45-$50, somewhere in that neighborhood. I wasn't passing up a playing days Mantle at that price.

Finding a '73 Clemente that is this well centered is tough. When I saw it come up for sale, I made an offer immediately.
'60 Clemente - Picked this up raw off Ebay in early 2020. There is a little bit of a centering issue, but the rest of the card looks great~! The corners, color and clarity are nice, and my cell phone pics don't do any of these cards justice.

Hank Aaron ALL TIME HOME RUN KING *signed* - I think this card is a key post war card. This was a bit of a "grail card" for me so I had been looking on and off Ebay for several years before I finally landed it. The centering is good and it was a great addition to my collection.

Babe Ruth 1934 Quaker Oats books - I just happened to log on to another board, and these came up just as I was logging in.
Seller said $100 for ALL FOUR and I said "sold" immediately.
To those that haven't seen these, there is a small picture of Babe Ruth on page 1, and each book is littered with tips and guidance.
These are actually in GREAT SHAPE, and I'm debating contacting and sending them in to CGC for grading. (I'm more worried about preservation and protection than a grade)

Great cards! All of those 1953 Topps have one bad chipped lower corner.

I'm going back through the thread and this one really caught my attention. That has to be one of most beautiful PSA 1 PR's I have ever seen!

Added another card to my misfit printing error collection.
A 1977 Topps Randy Crowder #194 blank back.
The sheet either by error didn't get backed, was a doubled up sheet as it traveled through the press (a properly set double sheet detector would have prevented this), or was intentional.
Anyones guess.

Crowder spent time in jail for selling a pound of cocaine to an undercover cop.
He is also the father of former NFL player Channing Crowder.

Both of these arrived today and will be added to my misfit card collection.

1972 Topps #263 - Felipe Alou

One with severe registration issues and miscut and the other a comparable normal card.

The Alou brothers actual last name is Rojas which is the paternal last name.
Alou was the maternal (secondary) last name.
When a scout saw his name was Felipe Rojas Alou (how it's done in Spanish) he assumed that Alou was his last name and Rojas was his middle name.
Felipe just left the mistake uncorrected as well as his brothers.

I've been waiting on the 59 Mick before uploading these. I actually won it in the Greg Morris marketplace raffle a few weeks back! I couldn't believe it. I have a raw 56 Ernie but I saw this one and I couldn't pass it up.

Wow, didn't really realize how busy I've been til I looked back and saw I have posted since September '23. Not even sure what I have gotten since then. I guess I'll just post a few pickups and hope I don't mess up too bad lol. Just got the Biletnikoff and Alworth today for super cheap. Then 3 57s for my set I got at the show a couple weeks ago. Everything else has been picked up last few months. Along with most of my 57, 59 topps baseball set needs

Recently picked up two Al Aber cards to go along with my signed index card.
1955 Bowman #24 and 1957 Topps #141
Condition on both is fair - doesn't matter to me since I got them cheap.

Aber pitched in one game in September, 1950 for the Indians picking up a complete game win.
The next two years he served our military in Korea.
After completing his service he returned and pitched for the Indians again, the Tigers and one season with the Athletics.
Aber passed away in 1993 at age 65.

Got a 1969 Topps #317 of Twins catcher Bruce Look.
Both he and his brother Dean played parts of one season in MLB.
Dean was an outfielder in four games for the White Sox in 1961 and Bruce played in 41 games for the 1968 Twins.
Both brothers played football at Michigan State where Dean was the quarterback.
Dean also played for the New York Titans of the AFL in 1962.
Dean is mostly known for his long career as an NFL on-field referee.
The game photo shows him signaling a touchdown on the famous Joe Montana to Dwight Clark "The Catch" in the 1982 NFC Championship game.

I haven't been active in vintage in a while. But glad to be posting in this section again.

I have decided that I have way too many cards. Why do I have 40k cards of 2019-2024 products sitting in boxes in a closet? I mean, inserts, parallels/refractors, base, RCs, etc. Why do I have 20k Rangers cards sitting in boxes? I have no clue. And I have a wife nagging me to downsize. So I've made the decision to do just that.

I've decided to sell off all of my non-PC stuff and use the money to focus on slabbed vintage HOFers. Doesn't have to be high grade. Mid-grade (4s-6s) are just fine with me. To take it a step further, I've gone through all of my Rangers and picked out the players I like the most over time and pulled those players. I've decided to ditch the rest. Not sure what I'll do with 5 3200 boxes of Rangers from '72-'24, but I'll figure something out.

To get start, I have sold a pair of lots of 1980s-90s junk wax Rangers to a buddy of mine. Players like Palmiero, O'Brien, some of the no name guys. He then turned around and has sold me a very special card. Hopefully, it'll be here tomorrow, and I can show that off ... stay tuned.

So far, I've only sold a little bit of stuff. But I got enough to buy a couple of graded vintage cards. I'm extremely happy with my pick ups. I know Mantle isn't slabbed. But I plan on slabbing it with SGC at the Allen show next weekend. I will also take the 1958 Topps Snider, crack it and reslab that one too.

For now, here's what I picked up.

Great cards. The 50 Bowman Campy is my favorite but that's just because I have a soft spot for him.

2nd high end mail day in a row. I could get used to these types of mail days, lol. But I realize I won't get them every day or even every week. Heck, I may not get mail days like this but a couple of times a year. Got this one for next to nothing. Long story, short version.

I've done a couple of deals with a guy about 2 hours away that lived probably 30 minutes from where I moved from. Anyway, I sold him probably 1,200 Rangers cards over the past 3 weeks. Older guys like Palmiero, Jeff Frye, Pete O'Brien, the nickel/dime type stuff. Probably 200 different Palmiero cards.

Anyway, he reaches out and says he has a card he wants to move and would make me a deal on it since I had given him a good deal and been easy to work with on 3 previous transactions (2 in the last 3 weeks and one in December that had 160 IP/TTM Rangers autos).

He shows me this card. I ask what he wants, and he lets me know. The amount he was asking was only $25 more than the cards I had sold him in the past 3 weeks. So, I basically paid $25 for this card. Well, it came in the mail today.

I plan on subbing it to SGC at the Allen show next week to get it slabbed. Not sure what I'll do with it then. But a dang Joe D auto. How cool is that? I wasn't sure where to post it since it's technically a 1992 card of a guy that played in the 30s-40s.

Is there something wrong with the back of that Brown or is it just one of those obscenely nice 2's.
