Don't get tricked by a great season from an 18+ year old in DSL.

Don't get tricked by a .350 batting average in the DSL.

DSL stats should only be used to shrink the pool of players you're buying, not to target any player!

I preordered a box from Topps when first offered. My box last year sucked as far as the hits, but I love the cards themselves and just enjoy opening so wanted to give a box a try again this year. I was nervous when my shipment came from Topps and the shipping box was destroyed-completely smashed on one side. I opened it and saw a little damage to the card box on one side but not enough that could say cards were definitely damaged. I decided to risk it and opened it, glad I did:

My picking with DSL prospects is not historically good, but I think Bowman Chrome enthusiasts also wildly underestimate the % which bust the moment they hit stateside ball.

Rayner Arias .414/.539/.793 slash line (lol) only to fold the moment he stepped stateside.

Yasser Mercedes.. .355/.420/.555

Malcolm Nunez - .415/.497/.774

It's weird to sort by OPS through past DSL years, and see that in many instances, none of the top 20 made the bigs, and then see an all-star tucked away at, like, 39th on the list.

The guys that became good players have surprisingly not put up jaw-dropping DSL stats.

Jackson Chouiro - .296/.386/.447
Junior Caminero - .295/.380/.534

Obviously, there's a lot more that goes into it, but I tricked myself into buying Pedro Pineda and Samuel Munoz' swings.

I cannot imagine how frustrating it must be to be a DSL coach. It is truly weirdo baseball. The Rockies team hit .285 while the the Cubs Red team hit .215. The number of pitchers that can't throw strikes create the weirdest statlines.

I'm with Boredlawyer on this one. DSL stats tell you almost nothing. For every Emil Morales there are going to be 5 flops.

Even in the case of Emil Morales, a guy near the tippy-top of possible outcomes for his age 18 season; 1) if you bought at release, you got crushed. 2) even if you timed it perfectly you're only up 20%...not even enough to cover fees and shipping on the resale.

The key to success with DSL guys is young and cheap.

There are ones of his BCP and his CPA auto. Are they both autos or are the BCP ones just a nonauto color card?

Do most top prospects end up with a Bowman 1st eventually. For example Florintino on the Pirates? Will his likely come next year in Bowman or BC? Bowman draft is just draft prospects right?

Opened 1 case of hobby, 1 case of delight, and 4 loose boxes of Hobby. Also was in about 10 cases of cardinals in breaks.

No monsters, but I did pretty well on the boxes

I’d be tempted to break 1x hobby vs. 2 x delight for the same price

Got a box with some fancash I had, feel like I did really good? Admittedly not paying much attention to prospects anymore, but Morii /399 and De Los Santos seems to be rare. Pair of Ohtani numbered and Kurtz Red Rookie are pretty sweet.

I can live with getting thrashed on this. I get it, they’ve increased print runs dramatically and raised the prices on this. (Not as bad as some other products, but still by a lot). I get the game of: 3 pitcher autos in 2 boxes (unusual for chrome). I get that the lowest number is /99. I can live with that knowing that there’s some more expensive case hits and lower number cards in this.

What I don’t get is: when I only get maybe $50 in value out of 2 hobby boxes, all of the base cards are absolutely garbage condition. The scratch on the Layton was pretty common. Just embarrassing. I think I reached my boiling point on anything other than flagship and graded singles.

I've been interested in watching Ching-Hsien Ko Auto Redemptions pop out of Bowman Chrome the past few days. So far, I've only seen True Colors, Refractors, and Base Autos. No Shimmers/Waves/Whatever other wierd variations out there. You would assume that if they existed at least a few of the less desirable ones would be on Ebay by now.

If you look up how he signs, it's a pretty involved signature, so guessing he negotiated to not sign all parallels as it would take forever. It's also probably why he is a redemption and no other prospect is from what I can tell.

Of course, he could end up crashing out and this all won't matter, but if he does pop there could be limited 1st bowman autos of his out in the wild.

I like the revamped look of the Reptilian parallels in this release. I've purchased a couple of the Gold Reptilians. Haven't hit my mailbox yet though, so no pictures to share just yet, unfortunately.
