Why wasn't that a safety? The player never kneeled down nor was he standing on the line. He just tossed the ball to the ref. Don't think I have ever seen that before....

Did the ref signal touchback? If he did, then it wouldn't be.

Of course once it is blown dead at that point nothing can be done, but it shouldn't have ever been blown dead. Good question, I'm sure it will be brought to the attention to the crew by the league when the refs watch the tape.
