not worth boosting up 2500. i'm at 1100 but i'm not dropping a grand for a chance to win a $24 pack

This is part of them trying to make amends with the people that bought high in February and stuck with it. This is why it's highly targeted to those and is a 'one-time' price drop on the pack. The holo drop might be similar with a reduced price and then back to normal after that. I don't think anyone, me included, can be too upset if we aren't eligible because we did well.

You can build your score still by adding moments by Monday, but the MP spend boost is already accounted for, taken May 31.

Pretty much liquidated all my HODLings short of 12 $1 moments a few weeks back once the writing was on the wall.

I'd imagine this drop heavily favors the bagholders with rare holos down 70% or more from the peak.

Agreed. Everyone who's up on topshot seems to be free rolling and has no interest in putting in more $. They need to find a way to make it so deposits > withdrawals (and transaction fees). Having pack drops that appeal to the subset of people that deposited a few hundred to few thousand and have no interest in putting more $ in doesn't do much for them.

Not saying this is for sure the way to do it but no one is going to deposit a sizable amount in to a market that is in a consistent downward trend for 3 months. Maybe these type of pack releases will lead to more deposits and an uptrend in the market by essentially offering a bonus for depositing and spending money on moments.

I fail to see how it's good in the long run. It's a pack that's only for people who put in a ton of money. How does that generate new users? It's like when people in the buyer's club just buy and sell a few rare cards to make it seem like they're worth more than they are. The collector score requirement just pisses more people off and turns new collectors away.

The whole Collector Score idea is garbage. Makes zero sense as far as trying to grow the platform.

Not thrilled they decided to “punish” people for selling.

MP purchases less sales will keep me from being eligible.

I have 81 moments so I’m not exactly a “rent seeker”.

Coupled with the reduced premium pack price my guess is this is just a one time reward for people that dropped a bunch of money (and not a permanent thing)

I think that is exactly what this is..a way to reward a number of new users that lost money over the last couple of months. Since there are only 5K packs available, there don’t seem to be that many that fit that category though. I’m in the same boat as you..I have a collector score that’s made me eligible for every other pack, I’m holding more than 50 moments, and have made money since I got in early. It’s strange that this collector score is more than 10X previous requirements and confusing so many in order to reward so few.

That does make sense though. Reward the people that most likely took the biggest bath.

Curious how much demand there'll be for the actual rewards in the packs though, now that everything has fallen precipitously.

It's trying to incentivize collecting which is the only way the MP works long term. They have continually said they want to gamify the experience as you level up to better rewards the more you participate.

Or think of rewards/loyalty programs like airlines use. The more status you have, the better the perks.

If this update from TS appeals to big spending collectors looking to hold significant value in moments (which by my initial observations on Twitter has been a well received update) it's likely good for the longevity of the platform.

As long as there's big money to be chased on the platform, TS will have no problems finding more new "collectors."

Wait wait wait....

At first I read the spend bonus and thought it meant that all you had to do is have spent that amount. Meaning, if you bought $500 in moments and sold $1000 in moments because you managed this correctly and didn't get caught up in the FOMO like a fool, you'd get bonus points..

but no....

What it comes down to is that you need to be down that amount to see any bonus.

They are handing out 'Loser Points'

at one point i was top 5% of accounts, peaking at ~80 moments. now i have 3 lol.

my collector score is 44 loser points.

my checking account has the winner points.
