He appears to be shooting... 38% from 3 this year... Which is certainly serviceable.
Knocking in 1.7 3P/game. I think the shot is indeed a threat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Is Iverson the fair comparison? Similar stats although Ja plays a lot fewer minutes per game, albeit a different era. Third year I believe was the first All-Star year. Started very early with playoff Apperances and if I recall by year four or five were making the conference semi‘s and finals, which depending on Grizzlies moves in the next year or two could be realistic. Seems like a fair possibility of his trajectory

extremely small sample sizes benefit (or hurt) greatly from hot/cold streaks. Today he is 41/107 (1.7@ 38%), if you looked 2 games ago he was 32/95 (1.45@ 34%). I'd expect him to finish the year closer to that number. Which is... respectable, but certainly not good. The bigger concern to me is that he doesn't have an actual jump shot. He's very North / South and dependent on the P/R, if you were to just give him the ball in isolation I don't see him being able to generate enough offense due to his lack of size/strength or a real jumper. Most of the 3s I've seen him take are wide open spot ups, and it's a push shot like a 3rd grader, not an actual jumper. You know I love me some SGA but he had a similar weird slow wind up until 2 summers ago he fixed it, and now has a signature sidestep 3. I think Ja needs someone to convince him he needs the same thing, or defenses are going to start walling him off and daring him to take pull ups and step backs, which aren't really in his bag yet Quote:

I'm seeing more pre-injury D Rose than anything.
Relentless attacker in the paint, above-the-rim antics, and high level motor. Not particularly the best shooter. Good play creator and facilitator. The main difference is that Rose's peak came back over a decade ago, far before the rise of positionless ball and stat stuffing saturation. So while I like him as a player and enjoy watching him, it's difficult for me to envision him as being the face of the league unless he's leading his team to championships with year-in, year-out mvp level consistency. There's just a gazillion other really, really good players out there to contend with. A beast of a dude like Lillard has never sniffed that status and he's been a monster since coming into the league.

I think thats fair. I think he could pull that MVP season in a year or two IF he stays healthy and can maintain it for a season while he is younger AND the Lukas/Zion cant stay healthy, Lebron gets older, Klay comes back to help Curry, KD is splitting stats with Harden and Kyrie and they get tired of giving it to ABC.
I actually think now he is is the new Lillard come playoff time, no one will want to play him, he will try to do it all offensively on his own, but i dont know that they have the pieces yet to get past round 2 or 3 |

Agree for the most part. Bane has been excellent and JJJ is when he plays to his potential. I think the core 4 or 5 just need more experience to make the big run, but if they keep this group together they can be a force over the next 5 years.

If they have success without adding another key player, Ja will look real good in the hobby. He looks good already. |

Bane's improved play has been more eye-opening

Lol, no.
Bane has been AMAZING, but Ja's play is literally the definition of eye opening. If you want to say Bane's improved play and being a great second option has been equally/more vital to the team being improved this year, that I can rock with. |

Ja first 2 seasons: 3 30 point games.
Now this is the 4th straight 30+ point game this season, coming off Ws vs Suns, Lakers and Nets. This dude is playing beyond expectations! |

When Ja gets going the post game really suffers, but he is very fun to watch. Is he becoming a score first point guard? Bane has really improved. Adams can/is a perfect center for this team. They have a lot of pieces and when JJJ is not in foul trouble and play the inside out game, he is a handful.

Has there been a big uptick in his card values recently?

His card prices are up but largely depends on the particular card. Definitely seeing about 30% rise overall from where they were but some stuff is only up 10% while others seeing better gains. Prizm base have gone from under $30 to $40+ lately.

Came here to praise the block but also to say the oop he threw down last night was one of the most ferocious dunks by a true smallish PG I've ever seen. Both of them showed a different level of athleticism than even the most athletic guys in the league. Almost video game level of absurd athleticism. He (and this Grizz team) is absolutely must-see-TV right now

I don’t know if he’s got the creativity to do it, but he definitely has the hops to make the dunk contest interesting. I’d love to see it.
