I bought 10 from Topps and lucked out and got a 11/49 blue parallel. I've been bringing a few of the base copies to local trade days for the last few months trying to sell them for $8 with no takers. Guess I'm lucky nobody was interested.

I bought 40 and did not hit a single parallel, but I guess the having those base isn't too bad either.

They featured it on the Angels broadcast last night too.

I got mine for ridiculously low last month. It would easily gem; not that I would, as it's PC anyway.

It's a great photo of an amazing moment, I'm honestly surprised it wasn't a higher price already.

Of that 10% chance is about a 75% chance that they have to go on the road to play 2-3 playoff games and another 50% chance of them not advancing to ever play a home playoff game.

I've posted about this before, but I seem to see a continual trend with Shohei's excellence in game play that when he is pitching very well he isn't hitting the cover off the ball and when he's locked in in the batters box his pitching is a little sub par for his standards. I just like to think about this stuff as Ohtani is continually trying to KEEP doing these amazing things within the game we love and revere so much. I wonder if he tinkers and focuses on pitching at times when he feels the need and that's detrimental to his hitting regimen and vis versa as well.

The Trout bump from PSA? First an 8 and bumped to a 9 for the marketing photo.

Here's some photos of the other cards that were signed.

I feel good knowing that Mike Trout also collects Shohei Ohtani cards!

Got this back from PSA and was really excited.

Also my 7 year old son sent in his best rookie of Shohei and we did a video reveal and he was ecstatic. This was the first card he ever sent in to be graded

It was definitely a proud moment for sure.

Such an awesome experience to be able to share with my son, I am glad that he is a collector for sure.

Sorry not for public viewing, but his face did light up, it was great.

totally understandable.

as long as you have it in the archive, thats all that matters.

oh, and please tell me there is a nice assortment of videos with YOU in them that he can watch at anytime, especially if something were to happen to you.

while that may be morbid, i feel that it is something that is lacking in todays society as a whole. Fathers being recorded doing what THEY love to do. Sure, there are plenty of "family videos", but those are pretty much to keep the wife happy, and rarely cover what the male in the family enjoys

I've been off and on thinking of posting, but at some point in his career, does Ohtani give up pitching?

I feel he will always be able to hit relatively well, maybe not MVP numbers when he's in the mid to late 30's.

But pitching....will he still be able to keep up with pitching and hitting as he ages? I don't really know, I feel it will be more difficult to keep up with pitching, he loses some command/velocity, however he could still be a mid rotation guy instead of ace like he is now.

If he was a mid-rotation (or lower) pitcher, I have to wonder if his team would allow him to continue to pull double duty. Personally, as soon as his effectiveness as a starter starts to dip (consistently) to that level, he would be my full-time DH and closer. That could lead to some issues of trying to warm up if his spot in the lineup was coming up late in the game, but I could see him transitioning to a 1-inning closer like Smoltz did

This is the way. He will make it until about 33 as a starter and then will transition to a closer

I wonder if there's any shot we could see him in the field someday down the road if he ever stops starting on the mound. Imagine if he managed to add a Gold Glove in the OF or at 1B!

From what I read, I think Ohtani has the desire to be remembered as an all time great if not the greatest player ever. I could see him playing as a two way player until he is 40 (starting and hitting) and then giving up one or the other and playing until he is 45.
