Still watching but it’s not even remotely entertaining. 1 hit 5 walks but they hit into 4 double plays. Severino actually didn’t pitch horribly and if IKF doesn’t make that error he wouldn’t have had to face Acuna jr and give up the 2 run homer. It wouldn’t have mattered how he pitched when the offense is this bad.

The Marlins choke did me in and they aren't even trying against the Braves.

Until that loss I still had hope they could right the ship, these first 2 games against the Braves have proven they truly gave up as a team.

If they just weren't good and were trying I'd still watch. But they've truly given up.

The Braves are way better, that's the kind of lineup we used to have.

Yes they are but when a Bryce Elder one hits them through 7 innings with a few walk’s sprinkled in and then erased by double plays it is kind of embarrassing. The Braves are a juggernaut but that doesn’t mean the Yankees should look as bad as the scores of 11-3 and 5-0 indicate. The fact that I am still watching means I haven’t given up on them as much as they seem to have given up on themselves.

So according to Boone the politician, Judge will no longer need off season surgery on his toe.

Yankees among MLB’s worst in base running blunders, speed

https://nypost.com/2023/08/15/yankee...lunders-speed/

Quote:
They entered the day having run into 37 outs on the bases, which was tied for the eighth-most in the majors, in addition to being picked off 12 times (fifth-most) and caught stealing 25 times (sixth-most).

The Yankees also had the second-worst BsR — a baserunning metric calculated by FanGraphs — in the majors at -11.5.

It's even worse if you take volpe out. It's like this team was built to play a different sport.

If the ump didn't call pitch #2 a ball (which was clearly in the zone) Olson would have struck out and it would have ended the inning..

Yep last night it was more a hard luck performance than getting shelled. Still don’t think he is worth keeping though.

You don't know that, he isn't taking pitch 5 with 2 strikes on him already. He could have hit a HR.

Nobody knows it’s just for conversation sake, if any of us knew in advance what would be the point. That is why I always say umpires control more of the game than we realize.

The Yankees aren’t in this boat because of bad umpiring. That may have contributed to our opinions on a few pitchers, but the Yankees are in the exact same (garbage) situation with or without bad umpires.

They usually lose when the umpires are calling shitty games...
They work the count, if they lay off a balls that were out of the zone and they are called strikes, it doesn't help them...

Randy Vasquez on the bump tonight. At this rate just leave him in the rotation. See if he fits in next year's rotation.

Also anyone know what's going on with Luis gil? Not sure what his return time table was supposed to be from TJ but we could use him right now.

I am going reverse psychology tonight and wearing an MBraves hat figuring lately whatever hat I wear the team loses. I could wear the pink Mother’s Day version or the new magnolia flag version or the old Greenville Braves throwback hat. Whichever hat you think will bring the Yankees luck I will wear. I just don’t want them under .500

Going with the throwback as it was from a time when the Yankees were beating the Braves in the 1996 and 1999 World Series

I have seen nothing about Luis Gil. He was supposed to come back in July and he just fell off the planet.

On the road to losing 5 in a row.
