Who has been better in the last 5 years cumulatively? I’m no Cole or Yankees fan but when you factor in health and numbers he seems the clear choice.

He surely is. He and McClanahan are the only ones on the list above to be in the yellow zone or higher in every start. Ashcraft had a 58 last night. Strider dipped into the green with a 46 on Monday. |

If it’s just a five-year block, like Player of the Half-Decade, that’s one thing. But five years wasn’t exactly the original timeframe used in the claim about who’s been consistently good. (I think it was something like “multiple” seasons.) I’m looking at it more as a rolling situation. And in the past five years, Cole’s best two seasons were four and five years ago. He’s certainly on fire right now, but he has otherwise slid back a little the past few years. Last year, for instance, he was 30th in ERA and served up 33 HR—in a down offensive year. And so, I would have rather had Burnes, Urias and Fried the past few seasons. Bieber had an injury-shortened season, and he pitches in arguably the easiest division, but I could see him thriving anywhere. It’s hard to say Cole has been better than Gausman since 2020. Gallen had a rough 2021, but he entered the league mid-2019 and has a career 3.04 ERA. Sandy Alcantara’s run probably isn’t long enough to include him in the conversation (and his current level of pitching certainly wouldn’t help the argument). And there’s of course Ohtani. The point is that there are quite a few pitchers who have established themselves as consistent aces. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

What do you all think of Manoah's super slow and methodical entrance from the pen to the dugout before his last two starts...in another team's park?
He's clearly trying to assert his dominance over first Cole and then Pivetta...but given his performance this year, I'm not sure he's earned that privilege as a visitor. |

Ya know, I was disappointed at first when I saw he was switching to initials, considering that his full sig is so outstanding. But you’re right: he signs his initials really well, too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |
