I bought 20 of the Japanese version of the Ohtani’s. Used a $40 off coupon. Even with a PR of 15,000 I like my chances to make a profit at $2/card. Haha.

Do you think Panik gets one for the only runs scored in the first two games are from solo homeruns?

Considering it's the first time in history, I'm gonna say yes.

Maybe. Depends how many other cards there are. I could see it. Braun probably gets one. Scherzer probably. Probably missing something. I looked at the box scores but I've been up since 6 AM and I'm tired. I was surprised they made Semien and Nunez. Potential sub 200 PRs there.

Also did it off of two pretty impressive pitchers - Kershaw and Jansen.

It's the Living Set, I tell ya!

So, it seems like a lot of people are really jazzed about this Living set--well beyond the prior population of Topps Now devotees. Just wondering what you all think about the impact, if any, the Living set will have long term for Topps Now. Do you think it will:

1. Increase interest in Topps Now, because it will help a broader cross-section of collectors become aware of Topps Now and other Topps Direct offerings?

2. Potentially decrease the likelihood of increased interest in Topps Now, because folks who weren't collecting it before now have a not insubstantial weekly "obligation" for not unlimited hobby funds by trying to keep up with the Living set?

3. Have no meaningful impact on future Topps Now participation?

Personally, I suspect it might be #2, and if it's not, it's probably #3.

Interested in what you all think.

Based on presales, looks like a lot of low PR. Just too many cards on the first day.

For me it's #3. I view the Now cards I might purchase direct from Topps as something to possibly sell or trade later unless it's some player or moment I want to keep. I'm building the Living Set and don't have any plans to sell/trade those cards.

So, I'm buying each with very different purposes. I guess the points from my Living purchases might make me more likely to pick up a Now card, but I'll have to see how that plays out.

It's Topps Now and they are going to capitalize on each and every opportunity.

With the Boston market being what I would imagine a pretty solid contributor to this program, I would not be surprised if they have a Price/ Devers Dual offering, it would be somewhere on the lines of 'Both deliver in getting the Red Sox win #1 for 2018'.......................LOL

IMO Boston fans don't really buy much. Sure Devers, Benintendi sold but everyone was buying them. Disappointing sales for the size of their fan base. Just the experience I've had.

I'm going with #3. $15/wk is probably manageable for most people so the Living Set will probably always be strong. If finances are a concern, I think those people are already buying from flippers and I don't think that they are set building anyway. It's just a different market, so I don't see any major impact one way or the other. TN will continue to grow as Topps really pushes it.

So your basing an opinion on your ebay personal sales?

I no numerous collectors who purchase solely key RC and Red Sox, I would find it hard to believe that the Red Sox would be any lower than 4th or 5th as far as teams go.

The PR’s of NOW will tell us if Living has any impact on NOW.

The red looks really sharp next to that blue Cubs logo. However a red /10 Happ rookie cup auto auction ended this morning at $99.99 with no bids. The $399.99 asking price is a bit much on this one.

Any other Cub, and I would probably bite. I don’t really care for Happ though. Something about his attitude/demeanor just rubs me the wrong way.

I'm still debating on buying any more cards before they go away. However, the cards are sorted in an interesting order for me.
  1. Ohtani
  2. Ohtani Kanji
  3. Happ
  4. Stanton
  5. Springer
  6. Nunez
  7. Jones
  8. Davidson
  9. Markakis
  10. Semien

What do the print-run prognosticators think of this order? Or, did you guys already noticed this?
