Does CSG charge you when they receive your cards or when they are about to ship your cards?

Just sometime randomly in between, in my experience.

They're supposed to charge you when the cards move from "Scheduled for Grading" to "Grading / Encapsulation / Imaging".

This is true. My CC just got charged and I logged in and my status of the order has changed. They are still working out bugs. I had to give them my credit card again after having it in their system. This morning I got notified of another $900 charge on my CC from them. I checked my CC statement and that charge was immediately reversed. I am guessing a mistake of some sort on their end, at least they fixed it quickly.

Nice XMas surprise from the swell crew at CSG, they decided to charge me for 3 orders all on the same day, $3k on the card. Who knows which orders were charged as its always a guessing game, who knows when I will get them. CSG makes things so fun and exciting!

Just had a standard order ship. Total time from receiving to shipping? 6 business days.

Yeah I just looked at the scans on the CSG site (Front, Back), and I don't see anything that would make it a 6 for edges. You may want to reach out to customer support on that one.

Yeah I would imagine to get a 6 on edges one would have to be really messed up. Idk if anyone had ever seen an error like that occur if it is an error and not me.
Thanks Joe

Not sure how I missed this, but there is definitely an issue with the edges that would bring it down:

Had a sub pop yesterday.
Service level: Economy (87 days at time of submission)
Cards: 14 (w/subs)
Order Shipped: 11/01/2021 (USPS Priority Mail)
Postal Delivery: 11/03/2021
CSG Logged: 11/04/2021
Scheduled For Grading: 11/04/2021
Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging: 12/23/2021
Quality Control/Finalized: 12/28/2021
Shipped: 12/28/2021 (35 work days, 55 calendar days)
So, quoted 87-day TAT (its 60 now) and CSG got it out in 35 work days - not bad.

Only sent in one higher-end card, mostly just random stuff. Pretty pleased with the overall grades, but got murdered on surface grades.

A few of the highlights:

Got charged twice for the same order, emailed them over a week ago to try and get situation corrected. No response
Called and waited on the phone today and left voicemail for accounting. No response

Maybe they'll respond if I do a chargeback?

This company is straight garbage, not even gonna try to hold back my disappointment anymore.

I noticed i was charged twice too, but when i did the math it actually still equated to the total i was supposed to be charged so it was weird but correct.

Maybe you are same.

my 60 slab order has finally shipped. Shipped end of April to them ... so like 7 months for me, but they claim less since took them like damn near 3 to log it. I hear its faster now since they are logging faster, but i hope they keep the hiring up and knock this damn bulk time down 10 fold.

My bulk received to CGS first week of May has finally shows as shipped. CSG entered into their system on 8/14. It went to the next step in October. Tracking shows I should expect them in hand on Friday. I can finally see my initial test batch of grading.

It's not though is it? You have just had a bad experience, and now doing what is prevalent in modern society - trash taking to as many people as you can online.

Have you actually contacted them?

I've had three economy subs return in that time from them, sent months apart.

New to CSG, and picked up a few slabs, and I actually like their quality/price at the moment. Had a few questions for those who have submitted.

Are they any easier/harder grading for like an express service vs Bulk?

Any easier/harder for sub grades vs. no sub grades?

Any other grading thoughts? Seems like they can grade kinda hard, which is OK if consistent imo. Thinking about submitting a bulk order no subs…. But didn’t want to be in a rude awakening. (I typically get about 60-70% gem mint through BGS, but I’m hand picking out of a good volume of grading candidates)

I've got three large bulk orders back so far. The two non subgrade subs were on par with what I expect when I use PSA, the one subgrades sub I got absolutely killed, numerous CSG 8.5s that I'm pretty confident could gem with PSA on a good day. Not sure if this was a one off or if subgrades are typically graded tougher since they're looking a little more closely but that was my experience

Thanks for the info... that's good to hear. I'm OK with 9's instead of 9.5. Guess i like my sub-grades on BGS card; but don't care as much on the CSG cards.

One thing I have noticed, if you take pics of the slabs without subs the scales in the bg disappear pretty easily. However if you put your iphone in portrait mode they show up much better which in turn makes it look better for photos then without as the space is more glaring.

I'm getting a shipment prepped. Can anyone confirm; if they take submissions in top loaders? I have a process with top loaders/tape to keep them secure. I know PSA isn't a fan of receiving top loaders. Does CSG care?

Thanks in advance.

They want cards in penny sleeves and semi-rigid holder from their online instructions. https://www.csgcards.com/services/sh...-cards-to-csg/

However, they have a disclaimer that I copied from their instructions below. It is up to you the customer on how you ship the cards to them. I personally only would use penny sleeves and semi-rigids, but I don't see anywhere that they prohibit top loaders.

Disclaimer: Instructions from CSG on how to package sports cards are only suggestions. Customer alone is responsible for safely and securely packaging the cards, and should, in Customer’s sole discretion, determine how to package the cards to prevent damage during CSG’s normal handling process.
