Yeah but like I said, Jokic is their playmaker, it's like when the LeBron Cavs teams had him out, he is the system, they wouldn't even know how to play without him. Plus Denvers depth is terrible.

It wasn't some 40 point drubbing

Nobody has averaged over 3 SPG in over 30 years when Alvin Robertson did it in 90-91.

Dyson Daniels is currently averaging 3.8/g that would be an all time record. Also held by Alvin Robertson (3.67)

I’ve never seen a player with such incredible instinct for jumping passing lanes and swatting the ball without fouling.

Obviously it’s a long season and this scenario is insanely unlikely but these are DPOY numbers. The Hawks are currently 9.1pts better per100 with Dyson on the floor and +3% TOV rate which is near best in the league

Quite the trade for Atlanta. I know Murray is hurt but Daniels is the best player in that deal and they got 2 1sts and Nance as well.

True....but these days you've got to expect that your star player(s) are going to miss a bunch of games, either due to injury or load management, and plan accordingly.

For example, one of the early season events that made people realize that the Warriors were significantly improved is the fact that they went 3-0 without Curry.

And in this case, it should be noted that the Pels were also without Zion, their best player.

Picked up a few numbered RCs on comc last night … my first foray into 2022 stuff, really didn’t pay attention at the time.

You have Yannis (whose team's defense is completely immobilized), Embeede (who plays 50% of the season), and then...Boston's wings.

The Cavs' start being impressive and the East being weaksauce don't have to be mutually exclusive. But why should the public feel coerced into believing the Cavs are the top championship contenders? Hell, even Beantown received mass skepticism all the way up until they won last year...and that's despite numerous consecutive Finals appearances. It's not like the Cavs are the Chiefs with undeniable recency bias.

Baby steps. Let's start with the ECF.
I think they're 'contenders' because A. how many other teams in the East even look decent? Knicks (who they beat), Magic (who they beat), and Celtics (who should still be the favorites), and B. They've destroyed the Warriors and Lakers by a combined 43 points.

That puts them one Tatum or Brown injury away from being the favorites. If I had to pick 5-6 teams to be contenders right now, I don't think it'd be a stretch to put them on the list

Also, making the ECF in a prior year doesn't guarantee any future success..... just look at the Hawnks.

AD should be fined for that flop on CP3 late in the game.

What a joke.

Wemby hit a 3 on that play that would have tied the game.

I was impressed the Spurs got back in that game.

I think more teams are taking the in season tourney a bit more serious this season. Should be some more intensity.

Bucks are mad too because it was a blown call to decide the game and they didn’t have a challenge

This is what's missing from Luka so far this season;
Hope to see this starting tonight in OKC.

Isn't Luka injured?

He's clearly not at his best.

Although, not sure he'll ever be in the shape of the other top 5 guys in the League.

The Cavs offense is actually insane. Garland is having his best start to a season ever. I’m starting to wonder if they could keep up with Boston. Don’t see anyone else in the East even a threat at this point

Saric looks like a broody salesman@ a Fiat dealership. I think Denver needs to take a deeper look into their Yoker contingency plans.

1) Thank you for acknowleding the anemic conditions in the East.

2) They are for sure a contender to take the conference...there's really no counter argument to that. I was more referring to championship contenders. Do I place them above Boston? Not yet at least. Boston just has a way of ramping it up in the postseason especially in IC play. As evidenced by their 9 year consecutive ECF streak. Plus they still have the best squad on paper of any team in the league. Even better when caucasian Wemby is healthy.

3) Hawnks had no business doing what they did that year, if not for the heroics of Good Hair's menacing 2-way play.

Jamal Murray flew to New York between games on the current Nuggets road trip to watch UFC 309 yesterday. Tonight he finished with 13 points, 6 turnovers, 6-15 FG as Denver loses to the Grizzlies without Morant in Memphis.
Are the people who were always claiming that Jamal is "basically an all-star" still around?

Did anybody who was not a Nuggets fan ever claim that?

He's an above average player when healthy and focused, and he's played at an "all-star" level for short periods of time, but I don't know any neutral who rates him that highly.

I always thought it was only non-Nuggets fans to claim he was all-star level because Nuggets fans see that he rarely plays at that level for long periods of time.

I watched a bit of the last game. Had to see what they about. Jarret Allen was the dude.

Then had to look up their schedule up to now. Soft.

15-0 impressive, but when the best teams you played were Golden State, Knicks, Los Angeles, and Detroit, doesn't mean as much as you think.

Both their wins against Bucks and their wins against Brooklyn and Chicago could have gone either way at the wire.

Some were saying Indy would be way under .500 given how hard their first 13 games were. Given the discrepancies of scheduling, and injury pileup (lack of Nembhard and Nesmith on a shaky defense team), there is not as much of a gap between 6-7 and 15-0 as one would think. One thing though, Cavs got that home court playoff momentum going.

Anyway, two games against Boston in the next week, including an m cup. By the time the Pacers play them in January back to back, we can start getting a sense of relative strengths in East.
