Yep. Extrapolate that over a full game, add in the stellar defense he was playing, and the Nets are getting everything they want out of him.

The Hawks are looking great - lots of Trae off-ball.

Bron specifically mentions his fluidity at his height, which I agree, is the biggest aspect of his game that doesn't make physical sense. Alien is a pretty accurate definition.

Hawks fall down on EVERYTHING. Glad the Bucks don't have any players like that and actually play like men.

I heard Ralph Sampson's name pop up and VW is definitely the upgraded version of that. But that's the closest comparison given the skill/height/frame. Durability, over time, has downgraded and that's probably everyone's concern but it's worth the shot.

That's the thing I'll say in his defense.

He moves differently than anyone I've seen at that height.

Certainly the risk is still there, but hopefully whichever team drafts him will make it #1 priority to manage his health.... Even if it means a ramp up his first few years that isn't typical.

Harden in midseason form, at least for one game.

I hope they fail just based on how PJ Tucker has his shorts pulled so far up. What a psycho.

Be careful that you don't double his halftime numbers when extrapolating, because we all know he doesn't play in the 4th quarter.

For his career, Ben Simmons averages 8.1 minutes played per game in the 4th quarter.

How much of his stuff are you hoping to unload this year?

https://streamable.com/notcli

here's 2 TOs in 17 seconds vs Miami -- the 2nd one is so funny. The Heat actually choose to double the roll man, leaving Simmons wide open for a mid-range jumper [a shot that 95% of NBA Point guards can make] and because Simmons creates absolutely zero advantage after that PnR action, and the defense plays drop on him, it's essentially 5-on-4 and he throws it right into the hands of a defender.

This is in a pre-season game - he won't be anything near a PG by April if the Nets are hoping to sniff the playoffs. He needs to transition to a Draymond-type-role yesterday. Does Nash have the pull to be able to even make the suggestion? Will it somehow upset KD's feelings and KD ask for him to be fired again? Tune in next time on the fascinating Nets saga.

Ben Simmons is the Russell Wilson of basketbol...without a ring.

For comparison, here's how the Hawks are looking with their new creator in PnR

You haven't played much serious basketball before have you? It shows.

The screeners do completely different things. That's nothing to do with Simmons.

Man, I actually just feel sorry for you. The time you spend thinking about Ben Simmons is really bad for your mental health. Have you seen someone about this?

Says the guy who spends so much time replying to Daeve any time he mentions Simmons...

It's ok to accept that Ben Simmons is sometimes a liability. It also doesn't mean he's the worst player in the league. I even drafted him in my fantasy team today, hoping for some rebounds, assists and defensive stats.

Well, you sold me. You drafted Simmons to your fantasy basketball team. Is he starting alongside Huerter?

My problem with Simmons is where has his game improved over the years? Would I absolutely have loved his defensive potential on the Hawks where we've really had no-one with that lock down potential until Murray.

It's crazy to me people are still arguing about what Ben Simmons is and brings to the table. He's a plus defender, plus passer and able to score around the basket or with a head of steam. No he can't shoot 3s. Yes he seems disinterested or distracted at times. But the positives out way the negatives unless he completely checks out.

Sometimes a player just is what they are.

It's bizarre, really. People seem to act like he sucks. He can't/won't shoot, but assuming (and that's a big assumption) Kyrie/KD don't meltdown, Simmons is a perfect 3rd option. Does a lot of little things, plus defender, can score enough points as a rim roller etc.

What's it got to do with, then? Offer some reasoning - this should be fun
