I sold a TC #150 10 last night at auction for $300 to a repeat buyer whose bought ~20-30 items in the past two weeks. Thought that was a pretty strong sale all things considered.

According to Stan Conte, the former Dodgers vice president of medical services (who now operates a sports performance company), whether Ohtani is a candidate for that procedure “all depends on the tear.” Internal brace repairs have been performed, with some success, on pitchers who’ve had a previous UCL reconstruction. (Rich Hill, for one; the Rays’ Drew Rasmussen had an internal brace repair this summer after two prior TJ surgeries.)

Glenn Fleisig, the research director at the American Sports Medicine Institute, says that internal brace pioneer Dr. Jeffrey Dugas and his colleagues have studied “a series of collegiate and professional baseball pitchers with revision UCL repair with internal brace after previous UCL reconstruction,” and that of the 10 with follow-ups after at least a year, “all 10 were able to return to play [at] the same (or higher) level” in an average of nine months."

I consolidated a good amount of funds into this before the news. Red /5s are so hard to find either way that I have no regrets. Long live the Sho!

You may reject the author's opinion...but the author states all of the players have had the best careers in the history of MLB. So maybe you do need to read past that sentence.

Thank you, sir. The iconic pose of the card and his health situation relegating to bat-only doesn't escape me without sadness. Finest is the sweet spot of his RC autos price-wise. I prefer it to TC despite the lesser pedigree, tbh. Your copy is a very nice one too

You can use Terapeak research for that purpose. The one you cited, 2018 bowman blue refractor PSA 10 already got paid for. And the guy actually bidded it on August 24th, so I think he already knew the injury when he placed the bid.

He can't even spell Ohtani. Not kidding: "None of them did what Otani is doing." He also has not a clue what Ruth did as Ruth was a starting pitcher for longer than Ohtani has been and was hitting plenty during those seasons

Sho's last name is Otani. He changed the spelling to OHtani for phonetic pronunciation for the western tongue. His parents continue to spell their last name Otani. Sho's 2017 BC Mega is spelled Otani before he came stateside.

So the author is outdated, but not necessarily wrong.

Its nice having a True Ohtani fan/collector/expert in this thread to help guide the rest of us!

He spells it Ohtani the other 20 times he writes it in the article. Lesson: don't trust someone writing about a guy whose name he can't consistently spell

So why hasn't he shut it down for this season? If you're going to get surgery, wouldn't starting 1.5 months earlier on that process be of benefit?

Probably requires more tests and a second opinion and it was determined the batting range of motion does not affect the UCL tear.

That and I think Sho just needs some time to deal with it. If he wants to play a couple more weeks till he's mentally there, that's up to him. Clearly he shouldn't be taking advice from Minassian.
