LimboFeline continues uttering silly blarney. Ohtani, Mahomes, and Purdy greet with salutations! Yea hither yon cardboard mementos feature value beyond their years while still active! My fine gentlemen exhibits much crassness. I understand your lack of fluidity to participate in current cardboard collaborations. I'm dreadfully disinclined to inform you dear friend that perhaps forever is too soon shall you afford them!

A PSA 7 was $7100-$8800 in 2019.

Numerical PSA Contenders can hold up better because the supply is so low. But could you see a PSA 7 at $6-7k in the next few years? Absolutely. Sports cards have taken a massive hit the last 2-3 years despite everyone being flush with cash and jobs. Just wait to see what happens when that changes.

If Brady Contenders in PSA 7 drop to $6k in the next few years, it will not be simply a "brady" thing, it will be a hobby-wide thing. Many hobby greats would be dropping as well. I would think it would take more years of inflation for such things to happen. not impossible, but i would say improbable.

well the covid bubble burst a while back, card prices came crashing down back to normal prices, but i don't ever recall even a PSA 7 Contenders Brady falling to $6K.

if anything, that i can remember, Brady SPA's were around the $10K to 15K range after he won #6. Contenders was closer to $20K and higher.

again, to the best of my recollection, this was pre-covid prices.

a Brady Contenders going for $6K would be almost a complete collapse in the Brady market.

I only had one Brady rookie, a Rookies and Stars PSA 8 that I just sold even though I think it’s a great card. Now I need another Brady rookie and plan to spend around 2k-2500. Momentum is probably my favorite but I don’t care for BGS slabs and they’re extremely rare in a PSA slab because of the cut from the factory.

Which Brady rookie are you buying with my budget if you didn’t own any? Plan is to put it in my safe and not touch it for years.

The most iconic one in your budget would probably be a nice Bowman Chrome.

I love the Bowman chrome, just wish it was numbered. Would you buy that over something numbered long term?

I saw an interesting video clip on FB the other day. It was of Strahan interviewing Brady on GMA about his rookie cards. short clip, less than a minute. in it, Brady mentioned that when he was a rookie his agent approached him with an autograph deal. 1000 cards for $.20/card. he said he thought he would be rich! he did not mention which card he autographed. I wonder if it could have been the Contenders auto? I would love confirmation on how many of those were produced.

I have long thought the Upper Deck Pros and Prospects and UD Graded were "sleeper" cards. both numbered fairly low.

I'd guess either the Fleer Autographics or Crown Royale

The Tuck Rule Game happened 22 years ago today.

For all of the debate over the play, when I watch the replays now all I can think "Woodson's hand hit Brady in the face—that would be RTP today."

It could be. impossible to know. he also signed for score and press pass.

I suppose that he would have probably signed more for contenders. he did RT, CT and round numbers.

Same here! Thought it was a BS call then and still do now. If that gets called correctly, history goes a lot different.

It was called correctly according to the rules at the time.

Sorry not sorry.

For $2500 and never buy another card ever again it would probably be a Fleer Showcase which has dropped down in that range now or UD Graded which is massively underrated right now.

I agree with this statement 100 percent. I have the Pros and Prospects card but hunting for a true original UD Graded card which the first 800 were slabbed by SGC and have a blue label with the grade details.

Interesting about wanting the blue label SGC UD Graded. I have one (SGC blue label) in an 8.5. Was thinking of getting it reslabbed in new SGC tux. Think it’s better to keep as is? Similarly, I have a Playoff Momentum with an original BGS slab out of 175.

Trying to do some research for a Brady Contenders investment/purchase in next 6-9 months. Have seen some insinuations regarding counterfeit sigs on some and trimming issues. Anybody have a good source on anything written for a guide for potential buyers and anyone here have any advice for PSA versus BGS? For the Contenders Brady in particular not generally.

Thinking this might be a National purchase for me unless I find something good online in next 6 months.

100 percent keep original. I hate when they are re-slabbed into a new black label.

i didn't have a chance to respond yesterday to this question, but in your budget, you can buy....and i feel dirty saying this...

the SPX rookie

i think it's a fairly decent card that has seen better days, much better days. but it's still up there in the top 5-10 Brady rookies to get. if you are just looking to add one Brady in that range, i think that's a good buy.

if you're looking to add a couple of Brady's...my favorite honestly is the UD Pros and Prospects (in a Michigan uni if you don't mind), Donruss, and Fleer E-X.

those are really nice looking cards.

the counterfeit signatures are for the most part, pretty easy to recognize. trimming was an issue, but the bigger issue for Playoff was miscut cards directly from the company.

that's why we see so many "authentic" only Contenders cards rather than the numerical graded ones. the numerical grades carry a premium over the authentic ones, which are real, but again, they are just miscut.

Thanks! I’ve been looking at the SPX for sure. I’m basically a rookie only collector of GOAT type players, so I only plan to buy one Brady, so I wanted to buy the highest one on the list for my budget. I definitely want patriots uni and numbered. Contended and SPA are out along with leaf limited, and just like being discussed a page or two ago is which card comes next. Even though it’s falling it sounds like the SPX is next followed by maybe showcase and Momentum.

Probably gonna go with a momentum or SPX.

Can anyone provide any info on the Quantum Leaf PSA 10 rookie? I know the pop on these is very low. It doesn't appear it's sold any time recently. I see several posted for fixed sale price ranging from $7,500 to $10,000. I would assume at auction it would yield (considerably?) less than that? Can anyone recall the last time they saw one up for auction and what is went for?
