It also depends on what other Shohei cards you already have/what you prefer. Back in the day I got the optic autos first since I didn't have any RC autos of OHTANI and those were the nicest on card autos I could afford. Eventually I picked up some of the Bowman chrome refractors also, I really do love both!

Also to add: Ohtani is a special case where his unlicensed cards, especially his autos, don't see as big of a dropoff value wise vs the licensed cards compared to other players, at least in my opinion

I have a PSA 9 Topps chrome blue /150 and a PSA 10 Topps rainbow foil. I don’t own an auto of his and his licensed rookie autos are out of my price range for now.

I’m not a huge auto guy so I’ll probably end up picking up a Bowman refractor but I found myself looking at his optic autos and they are sweet looking cards!

Anyone snag any monsters in the Goldin elite? That may be the last wave of higher end before we embark for a roller coaster.

I've seen 18 Topps Update IP autos go for below $900 if they are something you're interested in.

Not here...I had my eye on a couple but they all went higher than I could handle. Did you get anything?

Yeah, there were few cards that went for relative discounts, but none of the five figure ones were cheap. I did win one but it was a dog fight and my Ohtani budget for the year is gone. I'll post when it arrives. No, it wasn't the CRASO orange

I think it has gotten to a point (for Ohtani higher end) where if it's Goldin/PWCC/Probstein/Dcsports87, you can assume people saw it.

Sometimes I bid because the card seems like too good of a deal to pass up, not cause I really want it. I would generally back off if I already owned the card and was bidding against someone from here (and not a flipper) that was pursuing it for their collection. There are very few Sho cards where I would push good people out of the way to win. Maybe I'm in the minority.

very strong prices for an unnumbered refractor. I know it's still PR ~50 but other releases ('20-22) with serial #s were not this strong from the jump. Perhaps the limited supply being ripped is factoring in.

PR is 25 for the gold refractors this year, silvers are 50, bronze 100. City connect jersey might have contributed to the price as well.

Ah, I bowed out of this set for 2023 since there are no red refractors (I have the 2020-2022 vertical) so I had no idea.
