While prices MAY indeed continue to rise and there is a risk involved with all of us holding stuff...I dont think it would be dumb to sell a card when the card market is at an all time high in history. Particularly if you need the cash or cant afford to take a loss should that happen.

I would never take that card out of that sealed Panini one case to grade it if you say it has a few imperfections. It will always sell better the way it is. I would hold though because like Asian said it doesn't look like Luka is signing anymore. He'll probably go the UD route like MJ, LeBron, and others.

Yes. But understand that most of the MJ/LeBron market was scooped up in the 00s when grading was not as prevalent as it is today. It depends on who is selling the card, but I don't usually question why an MJ or LeBron auto is raw.

Also remember that if you do take it out of that case to grade it and it grades poorly like an 8 or something you will lose a lot of money. That is a beautiful card though i can't say i've seen that particular one before. I like the gold cracked ice look in the background.

I did sell some back in March, wish i didn't but i was a little nervous about the market back then. But i've got these left. I took these out for you and took a picture.

I told this story a couple days ago but i'll tell it again because it's what i have. I don't have many singles left anymore i sold everything back in 2017-18 and used all of those funds to buy wax. Super lucky timing i know. All of these in this picture aren't 2018-19 but the bulk of it is. It's everything from 2013-14 to 2018-19. Those little boxes are 2018-19 Optic choice i bought 45 of them. They come 5 to a box i opened one of the boxes up to to see whats inside so thats why you see 5 laying on top. There's also several 18 Prizm blasters i forgot to get in the picture.

Thanks those 9 boxes of 13-14 Prizm hobby are def some of my favs. Got super lucky on those too. When i bought them i paid $400 each the guy said i bet i'll regret this sale some day. I was trying to get 12 and build a case worth but they got too expensive.

Not quite. Maybe someday if im lucky. That's the hope anyways. I'd love to sell my house in the next couple years and move somewhere warmer. I live up north where it's cold and dark 6 months out of the year. The cards will definitely be sold one day but i have no desire to sell anymore right now.

Sweet baby Jesus! That’s jawdropping. Congrats on your future Malibu mansion! Seeing this post/image I just realised how much easier is to sell sealed wax than cards that you have sentimental attachment to (even if they offer prices that you can’t refuse).

Curious what your exit strategy is? Can’t imagine prices haven’t exceeded whatever goal price you had.

I don't really have one right now im just winging it. As long as cards keep going up everything is good. Never in a million years would i have dreamed wax would be worth what it is. But that could all change someday too so you never know. That's why i sold several cases back in March. I thought with covid and people being out of work the hobby would go the other way but it did just the opposite.

I'm really a Luka fan one of his biggest. I have been since the beginning. But i would be lying if i said i didn't have an investment in him with the wax. It still doesn't change the fact he's my favorite player. You can tell that by reading the first few pages of this very long thread. So honestly im hoping he plays great too and if he does then that benefits me also. But really i'm genuinely just a very big Luka fan regardless of the cards. Even if i had none he'd still be my favorite player. That's why i diversified also and bought other years then just 2018-19. But I truly believe in him and haven't been this excited to watch anyone play like him since i was a kid watching Bird. I live for watching the Mavs and Luka.

Honestly i don't have an exit strategy. I will probably piece things off little by little. It may use it sort of like a retirement strategy. Sell a few boxes here and there once a month over several years.

Hey guys I know I haven't logged in for months but this is a pretty good fake and wanted to warn my fellow Luka collector's- /299 Red quad gem mint BGS 9.5 listed by probstein yesterday on auction right now is a fake slab. All the fake slabs have the PAT number wrong- the fake slabs are missing the “.” in between the T and the 6. The serial number is legit but the slab is 100% fake.

Congratulations that is an impressive stash of wax! You have an excellent and safest plan to your investment. I wish I had your foresight.
