Problem is you can't wait and see. This current regime doesn't just go outbid for free agents anymore. You have to trade for him and give yourself a 10-month headstart on negotiations.

The Mets, Dodgers and more will have more money they are willing to throw around than the Yankees come next offseason. If the Yankees want him they have to go trade for him

Which is funny because yesterday the rumor was Jim Thorpe was the only thing holding up the trade. I think sports writers can be trusted even less than the regular media.

Judge is going to be 32 this April. Cole just turned 33 a couple months ago. The organization has wasted the prime years of these guys by not signing established major league stars who could've drastically improved the roster.

They're now left in a position where they're paying both these guys a ton of money, seemingly unwilling to bid for the priciest FAs despite being worth billions more than any other MLB franchise and quickly running out of time before the wheels completely come off.

Basically have to trade for Soto. Negotiate the price down if you have to but not at the risk of losing him to the Blue Jays or another team that swoops in.

The 22 year old that had a .787 OPS in high A ball last year?

You know Soto is only 2 years older than him, right? The extra time the Yanks get to spoil Soto in hopes that he would want to come back is worth it to me.

Attached are the offensive production leaders through their age 24 seasons. Can you count how many HoF members Soto is surrounded by?

The only guys ahead of them that are NOT currently in the HoF are Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, and Shoeless Joe Jackson. Two of those guys will be 1st ballot HoF one day, the other probably should be. In conclusion, if Juan Soto does NOT end up in the HoF he would be the biggest bust of all time. And we dont want to give up Spencer Jones even if it is for just a year? Make it make sense.

Yup, nobody should be off limits for soto. Cashman passed on machado, harper, seager, freeman, etc and now we're passing on soto and ohtani. Can someone please dig up George so we can have an owner that wants to win again.

It's just a feeling but I believe this off season will go down as being as big a failure as last regular season. No Soto. No Yamamoto. But a signing of Cody B, who will become a monumental bust in NY. It will be a classic Cashman blunder fest!

The way it's been the last few years with horrible signings, I feel the same way. I do not want Belly, I agree i'm feeling a bust with him. For once since G. Cole lets not be cheap and get what I believe are the closest to sure things: Soto and Yamamoto.

Give away anyone on the Padres list to get Soto except for Jasson, Volpe or Wells (which these 3 don't seem to be on according to reports).

I don't want Belly either. Sign Yamamota and Montgomery for the rotation. get the trade done for Soto. None of the guys the Padres want are going to be #1 starters or Hall of Famers. Pray Stanton has a rebound year after he goes to the "lab" and trade him at the end of the season to get the money to re-sign Soto. Play some nobody (Everson, Cabrera, the Guardians guy we just picked up) in CF until Dominguez is ready.

Trade for soto to at least see if he can handle a fanbase that's going to boo him when he stinks it up. This is also about a once a generation fa opportunity to sign a guy while he's still in his mid 20s.

Boone and Cashman will speak to media this afternoon. I wonder what hot air they got to release this time.

We'd love to trade for Soto, but we can't give up pitching prospects and major leaguers that will never be more than #4 starters for a guy that could win us the World Series in 2024.

Kind of bizarre that Yankees fans want to hoard prospects all of a sudden.

I knew the organization had become a poverty franchise. I did not know the fan base followed along.

Where are you seeing the fanbase wanting to hoard prospects and not get Soto?

My Dad said today that it would be a waste to get rid of so much for Soto. That's how I know pulling the trigger on the trade is the best thing to do for the Yankees.

I wouldn't want them to make the same mistake the knicks did with Melo, but who exactly are the yankees waiting for. This is the best player available and best free agent opp at this age for a long time. With so many guys signing team friendly long term deals, you're not going to get the opp to get a guy at 25/26.

Hey when you can get a guy whose OPS+ is down each of the last 4 years, you got to do it.

I love when guys like Passan say it doesn't take the Yankees out of the Soto market. Sure it does, where the hell is he going to play, they're not going to make Judge the CF for 162 games and they've tried to drop Stanton off in the woods several times already.
