Mahomes Prizm RC PSA 9s pushing 2K...

I remember when when the 10s were around 1000-1200 after the win against the Texans in the playoffs last year....

10's dipped to 1200 after the Superbowl and right before the pandemic. Not that I was tracking and waiting for the inevitable offseason dipped (that never occurred).

I see them $1500-1600

Where do you see 2k?

"Pushing 2K"... yes, most are selling for 1500-1600, although many are listed for 1800-2000....

I think the 9s will start to see sales of 2K sooner than later....

I just remember pulling a patty from a box of 2017 prizm the year it released.... At PSA right now. Hoping for at least a 9.

Whatever it grades, I have decided it will be in my PC forever, barring any financial issues...

This card is just so iconic.... I would compare it to Montana's 81 topps... It just feels as if it's going to be one of the most sought out / nostalgic football cards of all time... (judging by these prices and Mahomes career/career outlook, I guess it already is lol...)

Disclaimer: Only Mahomes Rookies I own were pack pulled within the year the products were released and are both at PSA - Mahomes Prizm RC, and Mahomes Donruss Optic RC

$1500-1600 completed sales does not mean pushing 2k. Sorry bro.

Eh, I do think it means pushing BACK to 2k. 9's hovered at 2k for awhile preseason, its starting it's push back. All semantics. It will be there again though.

You better believe that card is insured to the full sell price. The buyer is paying the shipping, while they protect themselves and the person who cosigned through them.

Insuring a $30k card is much much more than $100...
Looks like you are right. I played around with the FedEx/UPS pricing tool. Wonder how tough it would be to get your money back if something did happen.

Its not as crazy as you guys are making it. Are there cheaper ways to do it? Absolutely, but I don't blame them one bit. Minimize their risk as much as possible while moving the cost to the buyer.

Point being its not $100. If you are spending $30k on cards via ebay, most people aren't going to be detoured by paying 1.6% of the cost of the card on shipping for it to be done right.

The last time (about an year ago) I wanted to mail an expensive card via Fedex, the Fedex personnel told me that sports cards fall under collectibles and the insurance limit is $1000, which is why I ended up using USPS Registered mail. Can someone conform if things have changed recently with Fedex limits on collectible items?

FedEx might not exclude insurance on the above items outright, but may limit the amount you can declare. For example, FedEx permits a maximum declared value up to $1,000 for the following items:

Artwork
Photos
Glassware
Jewelry
Furs
Precious metals
Plasma screens
Antiques
Stocks, bonds, and cash equivalents
Collectibles, such as coins or stamps
Some musical instruments
Models, such as dollhouses

If you state a value that exceeds the amount allowed, you simply won’t be able to recover more than what is set forth in the FedEx rules and regulations.

FedEx Shipping Insurance Exclusions

Most FedEx shipments fall into the maximum liability issues described above. However, there are some shipments in which the insurance costs and coverage will not provide full insurance protections.

The following items may exceed the maximum FedEx declared value. In these instances, the declared value may only be up to $1,000, drastically limiting the amount that can be collected should an issue arise:

Artwork
Jewelry
Furs
Precious Metals
Collectibles
Model Dollhouses
Antiques

Is anyone still buying Mahomes now? It seems like current prices already have another Super Bowl win and MVP baked in. Anything less than that will cause a drop, in my opinion.

I wouldn’t be buying anything but the rare/high end stuff right now.

Agree with this 100%. I've been consolidating

Also agree with this. I get they're two different markets, but look at what Pat has accomplished in 3 years vs what Luka has accomplished in two. Now go look at what their NT RPA's sell for. Sometimes things are simpler than we make them.

I've said this numerous times in this thread. If you're getting in Pat at these prices, you better have a long term outlook. I do think if he wins the regular season MVP that will stabilize things if they got bounced before the the SB.

Everyone has their own system. There is no substitute for experience when it comes to cards and knowing the market.

I honestly don't think MVP does anything for his prices. No one really cares about MVPs unless I guess it's the end of your career and you're comparing all time greats. I mean does anyone actually go, "Wow, this dude just won the MVP? I've got to buy some cards now." I've never seen this happen in the hobby, but just my two cents.

Yes it does, and Yes they do. Did you not see how sky-high LamJack's cards went for last season after the MVP announcement? They were already fitting him for the Gold Jacket. And look at his prices now. Dropped like a stone. Plummeted back to earth.

That's not a bad example. I guess maybe I should differentiate between first MVP and subsequent ones. When a player is "breaking out" for the first time there is definitely a big spike. Subsequent MVPs? Not so much. But 2 Super Bowls in 3 years as a starter...watch out.
