What about in general with players currently playing? Since brady isn’t. Funny how Jackson/Allen have had some wear and tear on them and haven’t even played in a SB and may not ever.
We'll have to see if there's a 'post-Bezos wedding spike' of the ultra-elite buying up Tom Brady Pacific rookies at a premium.

Realistically though, Brady is a great experiment in the football card market, because he is the first true GOAT tier player to have multiple high end rookie cards. (Jim Brown, Walter Payton, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders, maybe Emmitt Smith are the other guys I'd consider GOAT tier on offense prior to Brady). Manning in close as well, but Manning's run up lagged Brady's by quite a bit.

As Brady's market moves, it's probably charting new territories in football card trajectory.

Very Excited to add this Fleer Showcase Brady Rookie to my collection. I consolidated some of my Brady's so I could add this. The 3 main rookies I wanted in my collection were the Bowman Chrome, EX, and Fleer Showcase and now I have them!

Just 1 PSA 10 copy of the card.

5 BGS 9.5s

Only 20 PSA 9s.

Overall just 221 copies graded at PSA and 309 at BGS (with a good number of crossovers/regrades I assume), I wonder how many of these cards just got lost in the shuffle of Brady being a nobody at release and how many are sitting in shoebox somewhere.

PSA 5 ROY promotion on eBay. Wow, guess on final price?

Obviously a very rare card/Bowman ( Pats uniform )

I’ll guess…..somewhere over $6,000 but less than $7,500

I was always shocked by the grades. I bought quite a few boxes of Showcase in 2017 and 2018 and the cards all came out looking perfect. I honestly would have thought they would have a better gem rate than a lot of the other 2000 products I opened (I know they are prone to chipping and edge wear but I didn't see it).

Still my favorite looking Brady rookie along with Momentum.

I am surprised about the pop numbers on showcase as well. But, honestly, i do not really follow them as i prefer true rarity compared to conditional rarity

I’ve collected that Rushmore role all too well. And those guys “typically” only had 1 or 2 actual definitive rookie cards, whereas TB12 has countless.

With Jordan & Tom being in the same modern’ish collecting company, I’ve pivoted from the traditional rookie card quest to the cards that have that voulez-vous coucher avec moi factor.

Coupling w/ seeing what PMGs, jersey #s, reds, true rarities that rarely surface did for Jordan, it seemed like a no-brainer for Brady.

Keeping in tune with the rookie card thread, I guess a pic might explain it a little better. They definitely seem to be drying up

I also like the “Longevity” of the Rookies & Stars line that might be the only run to last just as long as he did, right?

You serious, Clark? An EX copy going over $6k is wild. I have an 8, possibly 8.5. I can't remember because it's been sitting in a box collecting dust.

So what’s your guess? Currently at $4,200. Nothing “wild” at all about my guess since it’s such a rare card

Have recently gotten into possibly getting a Brady rookie auto. I want one in his Pats uniform and the rookie ticket is too much. So I was looking at the 2000 contenders round numbers rookie dual auto. Not the gold but the non numbered one. I like the look of it a lot

Love that card, tough to find in good condition and the only one he has in the blue uniform.

Extremely few options for a rookie auto/pats uniform. You basically covered them all lol contenders/champ ticket and round numbers

Lots of great college ones too!

College definitely doesn’t mean cheap lol. Pacific auto /200, crown Royale, press pass, fleer autographics, rookie preview, if that’s not all that’s most. And high grade they’re not cheap

Idk what the 2004’s go for but I’d sell everything not
From 2000 and buy more rookies

Interesting. Mind if I pick your brain and post respectively & methodically?

Why would you sell? Are you talking monetary/investment wise? And if so, what’s the goal? Percentages or dollar to dollar gains? Example; $1 raffle to win $1,000,000 or a coin flip to possibly turn $100,000 into only $200,000? What’s your exit strategy, per se?

I’ll point out that key verbiage to your reply is “IDK”. Again respectively.

Per those ‘04s, that’s 87% of the graded color match examples. Solid raw examples rarely surface. My total buy in over the years was less than $1k. There’s a psa 9 on eBay that’s listed for $1300. I pray the guy doesn’t get it BUT kinda DOES get it, if you know what I mean. I would then point out that while none of mine are for sale, your “IDK” on what they sell for would then turn into “None for sale”. And there’s only /199 of them. 5% of them are off the board already. Moving forward, there will definitely be another 190 big Brady collectors vying for a blue color match doing the run. Think Basic Registry Mantle Set / Basic Fleer Jordan Registry type scenario.

Liquidity is also a factor. What if I just needed $1k one day to buy the kid a gift or recoupe my total buy in? I can just move one. And I don’t have to wait 3 months for the big premier auction house to list, then another 2 months to get paid hoping there’s no server glitches, bad auction timing, other hiccups or nefarious activities that go on behind some of those big closed doors. And I still have 10 more. If it explodes, I send in another solider.

Next you didn’t say what rookie. That $1k buy in does not buy a solid nfl uni rookie, imo. And please note I’m talking real money here. Not the “if I had $25k, I’d go for the..” wishful talk. Pointing out eggs-in-one-basket scenario on the barriers to entry in the Brady rookie market. There’s only 5-8 I’d even consider w/ my OCD. And $1k doesn’t get me to far in a day.

I don’t like tunnel vision. I want to see the entire field. I like percentages. I like low risk. Last money in, first money out type vehicles.

The /199 on early color matches gives me focus. Drive. Excitement. I can buy an 86F Jordan every day of the week. Then pray my big egg isn’t a verruca salt. And Brady has 60 of them. So which rookie & why? Or spread them across all 60 in very low grades?

I’m just saying 2000 > any other year. “Rookies and stars” when it’s not a rookie year doesn’t even make any sense
