Awkward is seeing my comment from another thread, that was quoted by a different user in that thread, screenshotted into this thread

Real big fans of BBases in here I've seen

Not sure how this relates to Vladdy Jr though

Because people in this thread have used your line a hundred times here, and he keeps badgering them. It's the same logic.

I guess the difference is that BBases doesn't enjoy watching Vladdy Jr play?

We can drop it though, this thread doesn't need more drama

He apparently doesn't. To be fair, he also posted on the Judge thread today after he his his 4th HR in 16 hours and told them not to buy his cards. Lmao.

2: he should be teeing up good pitches to LF/CF.

anyways, i thought it was an interesting anecdote; not something they spent more than 30 seconds discussing, but interesting all the same.
I can’t stand his hitting approach these days. Even ahead in the count, he’s looking to punch the ball the other way with an inside out swing. Is he jealous of Bichette? If he was hitting .325 I might agree with sacrificing power for average, but .265 without the power won’t cut it. Hey big fella, they pay you to drive the ball out of the park. I’ve been a supporter since the beginning, but I may have to abandon ship if this continues.

He is an incredibly frustrating hitter to watch. I bought the MLB package to watch Jays games and I cant even bring myself to turn the games on. I think we are seeing more evidence 2021 was an mirage, and the real Vladdy Jr. is more than likely a 20-25 HR a year guy.

When buying his stuff you should ask yourself what you'd spend on a Jason Giambi or Ryan Howard card today, because I think thats where this is leaning.

Just to be clear, both Giambi and Howard broke in at 24.

If Vladdy's career played out just like Giambi, he'd finish with approximately 600 HR's...

You’re too generous. Howard may have debuted at 24, but he didn’t play a full season until he was 26. (Granted, he won ROY at 25, while playing half a season.)

Giambi’s first full season was at 25.

I still say Vladdy's still hurting from the wrist and hand injuries from earlier in the season and just fighting through it. That would explain the lack of power. Problem is he might not be 100% until next season. Now if next season is like this one i'll start to worry.

I don’t know. He took part in the HR Derby and remains among league leaders in all the hard-contact categories.

The only way it could be his wrist is if it’s something that doesn’t bother him with batting-practice pitches (like the derby) but is more sensitive and/or range-limiting when making contact with 95 mph fastballs. This isn’t out of the realm of possibility, but it would take some convincing to get me on board.

Something is definitely off, though. On Tuesday, he had his first 3-hit game since May 30, and only his second since April 8. He had three 3-hit games in the first 10 games of the season, but only two in the 114 games since.

Huh… Remind me, when did he hurt his wrist?

So let's say there's no nagging injuries and we have to settle for this version of Vladdy. I'm 100% ok with it and will still buy his stuff because i like him...to me he's like a big kid going out and having a ball playing the game we both love. Haters will be haters...don't bother me at all, i'll just keep ignoring your arse.

I'm not badgering anyone who has that mindset. Why would they care about prices? They wouldn't be arguing with me about prices tanking. If you collect Guerrero because you love him as a player, great! Nothing I say matters then. If you're buying him because you want the cards you buy to appreciate, which most are, then you'd be more interested in what I'm saying.

Regardless, the vast majority of the discussion here that I engage is about how Guerrero performs on the field. I'd be happy to engage anyone who says "Ohtani won't do as well as you think because of so and so".

I honestly don't get why people are so much more sensitive in this thread. People in here can't take hearing that Guerrero cannot win an MVP. If I said in the Ozzie Albies thread that Albies can't win an MVP, I doubt anyone would care. It's healthy to have a voice of reason among all the pump

Considering you bought Ohtani at peak and you're about to lose 30% on his injury, I'd say prices shouldn't matter (and never mattered) to you one bit. Same with most of us here. I'm buying Guerrero on the dip, just like I bought Acuna when everyone said he was done (and made out like a bandit at The National) and I'll do the same when people start panic-selling Ohtani (and I'll still manage to buy in lower than you did).

At this level, Guerrero WON'T win an MVP. He's NOT performing well and won't turn a corner this year. Doesn't change the fact that he has the ability to destroy a baseball, win a Home Run Derby and show flashes of brilliance all while showing an immaturity that is affecting his play and causing people to bail on him. I'm banking on that immaturity disappearing in 2-3 years' time.

People are bored of your schtick. Many have you blocked (I did, but that whole suspension thing made me laugh) and while you don't care, it says loads. You're the noise a tree makes when it falls in a forest with no one around.

Sorry for your losses, in advance...even though you don't care.

You've got over a dozen posts where you tell people not to buy someone's cards. Who are you kidding?

I haven't bought an Ohtani card in at least a year. Most was bought in 2019

Not possible

A dozen is surely low. I warn people plenty that they are better off waiting for lower prices if they must buy, or that X player is a bad investment. I don't like seeing people get burned following bad advice on here. I've never told someone not to buy a player's cards if that person doesn't care about where the price goes

Buying an inflated Ohtani card in the last year would be right below foolishly buying at peak. At least you’ve learned something in the last three years.

In case you’re wondering, I got my Transcendent for $300 plus a Vlad graded card (how wild is THAT?).

Here is my take on Vladdy ... The Jays need to get rid of him ... he has lost he passion for the game he has declined defensively a lot and his power is way down ... The Jays could get a young energetic 3rd baseman because Chapman is leaving ... Hope he can do something but it isn't looking good ... Varsho is a much better player than Vladdy ... so disappointed in him I thought he'd be a legit 500+ homer guy
