Player collectors, 3-5 cards you should be able to find but cant

Cool idea for a thread.

An inexpensive card I haven’t seen in years is a 95-96 topps top flight Michael Jordan bgs 9.5.
Again, the card is not expensive nor “rare” but I haven’t been able to find one in years.

I had one at one point, only graded out an 8.5 though. Centering was generally an issue on this set so 9.5s are probably pretty rare and fetch a premium when they do surface.

I've seen one card pop up at auction, with SN 000/150, and it went for much much more than I was expecting. I was very wary of the 000 SN and didn't even bid much. Other folks really did though! Never seen another.

3) Found

4) 1998-99 UD Choice Reserve Premium /100 - I've never seen one of these either. Even on worthpoint. Same as with the MVP promotion set, I think I've had trouble finding this because it was a low end set and this was difficult to differentiate from a lower tier parallel.

5) 2012-13 Flawless Patch Auto Gold /10 - only card I'm missing from this rainbow, despite having the /5, /1, all four plates AND 4 of the /25. Such a famous set that nearly all has been busted... I started collecting again briefly before this released and was busy picking up 90s cards.... since that first 3 month window after release, I've never seen another listed....

2015/16 Panini Complete Gold
A cheap product with a large checklist and the golds came at only 1 per box. I have seen plenty of golds of other players, but not Ersan. I feel this is the most likely card I will be able to find from this list.

2015/16 Panini Excalibur Light Blue
Another card available only through retail. Have seen a decent amount of other players, but again, this product is probably hard to come by now in retail stores.

Still looking for the above! Been about half a year since I first posted!

Low-end stuff:

99-00 and 00-01 Gold Label parallels: Man these are maddening to track down. Are they locked in sets or something? Still need class 1 and 2 black labels from 99-00 (only reason I have class 3 is because a member on another board had it and traded it to me) and class 2 and 3 from 00-01. I'm fairly certain I haven't even seen one of them from 00-01.

00-01 UD Silver /400. I've seen, maybe, 2-3 of these at most in the last 4-5 years. What the heck? It's not THAT rare, in theory.

00-01 Topps Stars /299. Again, I stopped collecting around '97 and these early 2000s parallels elude me.

95-96 Collector's Choice Crash the game golds: There are 3 different ones (1 against 3 different teams). Just super tough to track down I only have 1 of the 3.

Higher end:

98-99 Stadium Club #223 One of a Kind /150 AND First Day Issue /200. Really? I have the 97-98 version and have seen 3-4 more, have the 99-00 as well. I think I've seen one of the one of a kinds and none of the first day issues. What gives?

97-98 through 00-01 Ultra Platinum Medallions: I have NEVER seen 3 of these and only saw the 98-99 one once...since 2013. NO clue where these all are. I know they're rare and desirable but random ones pop up constantly, so why not Mitch??

Now I'm frustrated with collecting again after typing this out haha. Hopefully people keep sending me refractors to assuage my anguish

Found the one of a kind Mitch /150 from 98-99 SC! Also found one of the other 2 crash the game golds I need.

I STILL have not seen a SINGLE platinum medallion of Mitch in ANY YEAR from 97-98 all the way through 00-01. It is infuriating. They pop up constantly for like EVERY OTHER PLAYER. What gives??

Love this thread! I know I'm a little late to the game; I really need to check in more often. I've got my own list of white whales. Top 6 "Most Wanted" Rodney Rogers cards...here goes:

1) 1998-99 SkyBox Thunder Super Rave #58 (#'d to 25) - I see cards from this set on almost every player collector's wantlist. I've only ever seen one of the regular Rave for Rogers and was fortunate to snag it years ago. The Super Rave? Nearly impossible. I've half-thought about going on eBay and buying the first Super Rave I could find and collecting that player instead.

2) 1998-99 UD Choice Premium Choice Reserve #63 (#'d to 100) - The closest I came to this card is the "sold" copy on COMC from 2012. I've never seen one anywhere else and I would LOVE to track down the COMC owner and make him/her a ridiculous offer.

3) 1998-99 Upper Deck Black Diamond Quadruple Diamond #47 (#'d to 150) - I saw one of these on eBay back in 1999. I lost out on the auction and contacted the winner (back when the winners ID's were actually posted). They wanted double what they paid for it, which was like $150 or something. As a poor freshman in college, there was no way to rationalize spending that kind of money on a card, especially when I just assumed another one would go up for sale and I could get that one. Oh, if I only had a Delorian so I could go back in time and smack that younger version of myself.

4) 2000-01 Fleer Stickers Phoenix Suns Checklist #82 - Another one I've never seen. And considering there's a chance I'm chasing this one with four other player collectors, it just got five times more difficult to come by.

5) 2002-03 Stadium Club Beckett.com Samples #70 - Another card I had the misfortune of losing on eBay years ago. It was listed for something like $0.99 and I was the only bidder. I had put a max bid of like $20 on it, just for a little assurance, but other cards from that set weren't going for a whole lot of money. So I wasn't that worried. Somebody swooped in during the last few seconds of the auction and outbid me. Curses! Never seen one again...

6) 2004-05 Upper Deck UD Promo #128 - Another promo card on my list, but in the 13 years since this card has been released, I've never seen one. I'm not sure what the print run is on some of these promo cards, but I can easily imagine people disregarding them as wanted or valuable and sticking them in a box in the closet somewhere.

So that's my list...three numbered cards from 98-99, a random team sticker and a couple of promo cards. I hold out hope that they'll find their way home someday. Thanks for checking out my list.
