Better than Paddack. If Clevinger can't go then I think Davies is the next best option. We're not going to beat the Dodgers with no starting pitching. The offense better activate SLAM DIEGO quickly otherwise it might be a quick exit.

Tough to see the Pads winning w/o Clev and DiLam.
Davies can be a witch though and bullpen is strong so they might have an outside shot. |

Word around SD this morning is Clev might start. And when I say 'SD' I mean my crazy group of diehards that text every pitch and throughout the night to the point where I sound like the most popular guy in the city blowing up every second.

Can’t see them winning without a healthy Lamet throwing one strong game.

Just thinking how this series would have gone with healthy Clevinger and Lamet <sigh>, but it is what it is. Good 9th inning comeback by the Pads and I really like Fired-Up Manny vs Dont-Give-a-Crap Manny, he's growing into his leadership role. Friars had their chances in both games so gotta feel positive about that.
As far as tomorrow goes, why not throw Paddack out there and see if he can do something ANYTHING? We'll need a miracle to continue this season and nothing to lose, our offense needs to put up a 10 spot to make up for the lack of pitching. |

Clev out for the NLCS if they advance since they dropped him off NLDS roster.

Great at-bats for Tatis and Machado in the 9th. I thought for sure Hosmer was going to punch a single. Opportunities are there, just need to cash in on them. Go Padres! |

As much as anything, I am really hopeful that this is the beginning of a decade long rivalry with those blue clowns. Deep down inside, I know it's not a rivalry until the Padres beat them when it matters. Sports are so much more fun when there are healthy long term rivals. Keep the faith! Pads in five! |

Some great memories from this season. So much to look forward to next season. I wonder if Bochy is willing to take the reins? Go Padres!

Not the worst-to-first ending we were looking for but an exciting season in Padres history! Lots to look back on MVP, ROY type seasons, SLAM DIEGO and HR records, winning and statistical records, etc... Lots to look forward too with the current roster as well as exciting new prospects.
The beginning of a new PADRES era! |

Totally agree that this was a really fun season, and it gave me a lot of pleasure in a disheartening year. I take heart in Tatis' comments that he is not satisfied, and for the first time in a while, I don't feel like Padres fans have to squint really hard to see the makings of a great team, not a good one.
Questions to ponder for the offseason: 1. What is the catching situation going to look like next year? Has everybody forgotten about Mejia? 2. What happens with the bullpen? Closer of 2021 is _________? 3. Can Paddack 2021 be more like Paddack 2019? 4. Should any of the free agents be brought back? 5. Any predictions of an out-of-left field acquisition? |

1.) Nola with Mejia and Campusano competing for the backup job. 2.) Bring Rosenthal back. Kirby’s gone. 3.) Paddack looks like a #4 starter. I wouldn’t mind if they shopped him if there’s interest. 4.) Rosenthal, Moreland (cheap team option), Profar if price is right 5.) I would target Treinen from the Dodgers as a FA. Bauer would be a great fit but $$$. Kike Hernandez if no Profar. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
