An Awful Hobby Store Experience

A couple responses to a few comments made and this is all I’m gonna say.
1) To the person thinking I was bragging about the 5 pitcher autos that was sarcasm…
2) To the person that said I run people over on Black Friday I actually have never once in my life shopped Black Friday
3) I can’t even count all the hobby shops I know of that base their price off blowout so let’s not pretend making that comparison is completely absurd.
4) Yes, it was an overreaction as far as coming here to post about it but at the actual shop we just left and went to the other store. No fussing. Should I have gone to the forums and called him what I did? Absolutely not.
5) The fanatics conversation wasn’t brought up with the intention to talk about the end of his store, that part happened naturally.
6) For everyone that berated me I hope you have a great week and pull all the superfractors out of topps finest flashbacks releasing tomorrow!

MY LCS used to be Topps direct. Topps did away with the HTA program a couple of years ago. Now there are only 50 HTA stores left.

All others have to buy on secondary market.

Let's not let facts get in the way tho

ok but let's use that example some said on I think page 2 lol their lcs charges $650!!!!! for topps Jumbo that are selling for $350. If the LCS has to buy secondary so be it, charge 20% over market and still make plenty. Not a single person will convince me that a shop charging 47% OVER market is ok because of their overhead lol

Who cares what they charge, it's their shop, therefore it's OK to charge whatever they want.

His response was “that doesn’t sound very ‘other hobby store’ of them. And then I asked “still not willing to move on price?” Reply was “nope” and we walked out. A**hole would rather not make a sale on a product he paid $240 for and would’ve still profited over $100 on a single box with a discount than give someone a ‘deal’. Proceeded to go to the other store and talk them down to $350 and got my five rookie pitcher autos haha. For the good store owners that are out there for the collectors, I wish you all the best but I’m not gonna be sad at all if fanatics runs turds like this out of business.


Tl:dr Hobby store owner greedy, fine with going out of business due to fanatics cause he’s well off from recent years, didn’t budge on a $400 box of topps chrome jumbo.
