And the other half of the people in the hobby are just box flipper bois just flipping those boxes to the breakers who open for the degens.

Where did all the pure collectors go?

I could give you about 4,000-5,000 names and addresses each calendar year, and those would purely be the people I sold to.

The vast majority of stuff I sell is $5 and under. And much of that is not really the type of stuff that someone is going to be flipping.

When I setup at shows, I still have plenty of people who will sit down with a list and dig through my value boxes looking for sets they need to complete.

If you can't find an abundance of pure collectors, it's because you aren't looking for them. You are looking towards the top, getting consumed in threads like this, being poisoned by YouTube, and failing to see the bigger picture. If you can snap yourself out of it, you will see things quite differently.

Thank you for saying this! Way too much hate on these threads. It amazes me so many people can't fathom that people might actually like a product like this, and perhaps even collect it!

The Rock Stars aren't bad, but...I'd rather just buy a Shawn Kemp

But how many of those 4000-5000 customers are going to purchase singles from 2023-24 topps chrome basketball and how many are actually buying a box to open and enjoy and not think about reselling everything, ie actually enjoying the cards?

I get that there are many pure collectors for flagship topps baseball and heritage, how many here who have purchased boxes direct have the same goals as those flagship and heritage guys?

Very very few if any.

Most are here to purchase boxes to put away to sell for profit at a future date or flip for an immediate profit. The rest will get into breaks trying to get bron and wemby spots and throw away the rest of the commons.

Why is that a problem to buy something and sell it for a profit? I didn't realize there was only one way to participate in the hobby. You either buy and stick the cards in a binder or you shouldn't participate. LOL

Nobody is buying this to collect it. If that’s the case, they would just buy singles.

There are only two ways people are participating with this product - you are either a gambler or a box flipper boi ( a reflection of the hobby landscape) and you are driving prices higher on each other. The pure collector for this product doesn't exist. Thanks for the assist!

Unlicensed products have always been cast aside by the hobby. Fanatics does a great job drawing in the sheep. Credit to them.

Ha ha, I remember all the personal box breaks (remember when regular people could by boxes).

Example: Here is my box break. Man I absolutely love this set. I am pumped I hit my favorite player.

.... Everything is available

Exactly. It really is that simple.

Anyone opening boxes of this is hunting for Victor and Lebron autos or serial numbered parallels.

I'm thankful there is no PC players in this product. I would pretend not to care and chase the poor mans rainbow LOL. When licensed Topps Chrome comes back out I will probably try to break some.

I was! I couldn't get one yesterday so yes I will buy singles. Are you saying boxes are crazy but singles are fine?

I went back and forth—great to see new stuff, bad because it’s glamour shots, sad because singles would be plentiful for lesser cards….

Any hobby-only parallels that can be used to calculate #s?

I am eager to see some box breaks on this. I know a lot of doing this as a lottery for Lebron and Wemby autos. I am curious to see how the rest shakes out.
