The charge that Brunson was able to take against Ja with 3 seconds left is indicative of how predictable Ja's offensive game is becoming.

Everyone knew what was Ja was going to do.....including Brunson.

Ja needs to develop some CPIII-type mid-range game.....

He has a decent mid-range game already and he’s starting to develop the three ball. He’s only going to improve.

He's still slithery enough to lessen the predictability to a significant degree imo.

Muh poor Knicks. Put up a good fight. Was entertained.

Though the article also talked about how with Jones, their defense was able to generate a lot more TOs and thus transition buckets. While presumably with Ja, the team defense is worried more about covering his lapses and thus can't generate as many TOs and easy buckets.
Starting the campaign early this year

It's quite telling that last year the Grizz were just as good with Tyus Jones starting as they were with Ja starting.

That will be the determining factor in terms of whether Ja stays at the level of Trae Young (i.e. great on offense, horrible on defense) or takes the step up to the level of Steph Curry (who was just as bad defensively early in his career and worked really hard to become an adequate defender).
No it won't.

The Grizz is a monster team, they are talented, young and deep. Well coached, well run organization. The team all understand and play a team D concept and have an dedicated anchor... its why Adams is still so valuable in today's NBA. They will lose JJJ here without skipping a beat the same as they did without Ja. Actually they are very similar to the Warriors, same blueprint.

Ja is the head of the monster, big nuts.

Nitpicking Ja's D isn't relevant opening night discussion and relevant at all really with this team ... you can dig up as many stats as you want

Ah the Trae comparison, I expect Trae and the Hawks to step it up this year. Murray is probably the perfect back-court partner for Trae.

It won't in the regular season, but it will be an issue in the playoffs, when well-coached teams like the Warriors have 7 games to isolate and take advantage of a team's weakness.

They might be able to hide him on defense against a team like Dallas, but a team like the Warriors with multiple high-level scoring guards will take Ja apart defensively in the playoffs.

Just waiting for the 'yeah, but....they woulda been 2-0 with a 30 point margin of victory if he played defense like Kawhi....' chants.

I mean, they probably would be. Got taken to OT by the maybe play-in Knicks and lottery-bound Rockets had them in single digits throughout crunch time despite Ja going off. Those aren't terribly impressive wins for a team that should be top 3 in the West.

Whoever rated them a top 3 team in the west preseason might have CTE.

They lost the legendary Kyle Anderson, that's why.

In all seriousness, I'm curious what Ja's mpg will look like with no Melton who got some pretty good run last year. I would guess Brooks and Jones will absorb most of those minutes because they need Morant fresh going into the playoffs this year.

I know people on here aren’t as heavily invested in Ja, but if he stays healthy the whole season, I’ll lay money on him being MVP.

I have a lot of Ja cards. That’s because I collect him. I give no damns if anyone else does or if they make money off of him. I’d much prefer his prices drop so I can buy a few more.

Didn't really see much of a decline in his prices in the off season. So I can't agree with you that there is fomo. His top cards are pretty much locked up.

He has a chip on his shoulder he's already said that. He hated being drafted number two he hated being looked at as a lesser player than Zion. Until he proves he's the best at his position he won't quit unless he's injured. He's got to drive just like Jordan to be the best. He's got a long way to go but at least he's got the drive. If he stays healthy his cards will keep rising. He checks all the boxes for greatness let's see if he can get there and enjoy the ride.

Not ready for prime time. What a beat down so far. they need another star. JJJ is a good player but he's made of glass, always missing time.

He's consistently great. Doubts should be put to bed. His prices did come down during the offseason slightly but are now coming back up after the big game yesterday. Funny how undersized players are also undervalued and don't demand the high dollars the big guys can...
