2012 turned out to be a sneaky decent draft for QBs. And it isn't the the guys drafted 1-2. Although, I do think Luck was on his way to a HOF career.

According to Steel City Insiders’ Jim Wexell, the Niners have asked for two first-round picks in return for their playmaker.

Meanwhile, a conflicting report (one of many since this all started in April) out of San Francisco suggests that the 49ers want Pittsburgh to include a player in the trade package.

“They want a player. They want a (Pat) Freiermuth or whatever it is that the Steelers could give up. They want a player and picks. From what I’ve heard, the Steelers have only (offered) picks. … If there are no players involved, I think from a 49ers perspective, the deal is dead

Too bad they waited too long. Price went down. They aren't getting a 1st. Reports say a 1st was offered in May.

He’s overvaluing himself and so are the 9ers.

When it’s this long in the process and neither entity has received an offer on the level they want, it’s a Blackrose situation. They can ask whatever they want, but it’s not the actual value.

Offered $32m per season by the Patriots and still said no thanks.

Yikes. God speed 9ers fans.

JuJu is given an opportunity to go full-time on twitter as a creep. Released by Patriots so he can post more thirsty tweets and replies

The trade rumors have died down the last couple of days, so I think the 49ers are just going to sit tight and let Aiyuk decide if he really wants to start losing paychecks once the regular season starts.

Aiyuk seems to have overplayed his hand.....

Aiyuk I think wants his cake and to eat it too as the old saying goes. He wants to be a top paid WR but be on a top contending team. Seems SF said we can go 28 million a year but can't go higher as we have others to pay also as we are a contending team thus others have their hands out as well. If he wants $32-35 million a year he will have to go to a garbage team to get it otherwise he will have to take less for a chance to win he can't have both.

If so, I think he walked right into the trap SF set. He got to see his market with SF's trade needs, and hear SF's offer.

You never really know how it looks until it all plays out over time...

Remember the Chris Jones situation last year? Week 1 it looked like a disaster: He lost a paycheck and the Chiefs lost a game.

Fast forward a while and Jones ended up with $115MM guaranteed dollars over last year and his new contract, and the Chiefs ended up with a Super Bowl.

On the other hand, plenty of scenarios like Le'Veon Bell who got into a dispute, never got paid, and never was the same player.

He’d get what he wants if he was a FA.

The problem is as a contracted player no team is valuing him at what he wants plis what SF wants.

As I noted, they are both overvaluing him, as it stands for him being under contract.

Teams would give up a first for him and teams would pay $32 mil for him. Teams won’t do both, because he’s not worth it.

Poor comparison. Chris Jones is more valuable to his team than Aiyuk.

Chiefs were smart to pay him. Aiyuk has had one good year on a team that basically split it down the middle on the run and pass. Aiyuk is a solid receiver, but not on the level as the big names.

Per @MaioccoNBCS, the Browns & 49ers had agreed to a trade that would send WR Brandon Aiyuk to Cleveland in exchange for WR Amari Cooper, a 2nd round draft pick, and a 5th round draft pick.

Aiyuk vetoed the trade.

At this point SF needs to play hardball say we are done talking you play for what your contract is paying you and we will tag you in 2025 you don't like it tough you proved yourself a diva and we are done dealing with you.

Wow.

The Browns proving they are dumb and Aiyuk proving he is smart.

I think you missed my point here....

A lot of speculation happens while things are still in motion. Right now it may appear that Aiyuk has lost leverage but if things work out and he gets close to the contract he wants with the 49ers, then he gets paid and the 49ers keep their offense together. Or maybe he gets traded to a good destination for good compensation and both he and the 49ers win. Or maybe he holds out half the year and CMC never gets over this calf injury and the 9ers season falls apart. You just don't know at this juncture and that's my point.

Gotta wonder why the league didn't schedule the Packers and Eagels to play in the two preseason Week 4 Thursday games since both teams are starting the regular season with a Friday night game in another country.

It's 80 and sunny in LA on a Saturday afternoon.

Who the heck would want to waste it watching the Chargers preseason game?
