We in fact have proof that our nation was not, in fact, founded on the Christian religion as well.

Treaty of Tripoli, Article 11:

Quote:
As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion,—as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen [Muslims],—and as the said States never entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mahometan [Mohammedan] nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.
It was submitted to the Senate by President John Adams, receiving ratification unanimously from the U.S. Senate on June 7, 1797, and signed by Adams, taking effect as the law of the land on June 10, 1797.

He should get back into the closet. Being gay is a fad, it's not something you are born with. It's just an alternate lifestyle that should not be considered to be mainstream.

I sincerely hope you're not serious because otherwise this is the dumbest post in nearly 70 pages.

I had my only daughter commit suicide due to the lifestyle she lived. She was gay and was ashamed of it and took her own life. You have to be the dumbest one here. Shut up and go away idiot.

With a father that feels that way about her daughter, I don't think you can blame it on her lifestyle.

So how did you take to her lifestyle choice?

I was enjoying this thread and honestly learning a lot in this thread, it provoked me to thoroughly consider what my personal beliefs are. But at this point due to the past few posts I recommend the thread be closed to avoid a confrontation that concerns extremely serious personal matters.

I supported and loved her very much. She was on the Dean's list and within a half of a credit from graduating from college with a double major of Anthropology and Biology.

From your comments on Michael Sam, you obviously don't approve, which is fine, you are welcome to your opinion. The problem most of have with the anti-gay movement is not your thoughts, but the laws against them. I suppose I should not come to a conclusion about your feelings though and that was wrong, it just seems parents should give their children unconditional love, regardless, as you put, their lifestyle choices.

I imagine this has nothing to do with the civil rights issue, or Michael Sam, no more then a straight person taking their life reflects on a straight person.

I do wish you peace with your daughter's memory, and I did not mean to call you a her.

I hope you take this apology as sincere, and if we choose to continue discussion, can get back on topic/s.

Apology accepted. I just don't like the idea that this type of lifestyle should be glorified, and given special privileges in society.

Special privileges??? Hahaha. How about equality and the same respect everyone deserves. Your comments show you are detached from logic.

Equality should not be a special privilege...

Interesting. You'd think if was just a "fad" and people aren't born with it, she could have just stopped being gay instead of killing herself over it.

I wonder, how much did she hear from you growing up about how there was something wrong about being gay?

How and why are you comparing being gay to incest or pedophilia?

For those that think being gay is a choice, I have one question for you: When did you choose to be straight?
