I watched a show called The English. A western thing with Emily Blunt. Also Severance and Silo seasons 2.

I also just finished watching this show on Hulu called Paradise. I was enjoying it as a sort of different take on the post apocalyptic thing, but was kinda disappointed with the last episode. I get it, they probably went into it not knowing if they'd get to make a second season, but the last episode felt forced. I'm sure I'll still end up watching the second season when it comes out.

My wife and I watched Paradise too and loved it. I'm not sure how interesting the 2nd season will be if it's just about him going to find his wife. Meanwhile, you leave your kids behind somewhere with threats still there based on your actions.

I would have been cool with another season revolving around what was going on in the cave, especially after the seventh episode.

Me too. The only thing that maybe saves Season 2 if it ends with Xavier bringing back thousands of survivors to take over the cave town and get rid of the elites in it.

RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop. Didn't even realize there were four episodes when I started watching it, but I ended up watching 4+ hours on the making of an 80's classic.

I just binged Adolescence on Netflix. Only 4 episodes so easy to binge. It was promising but disappointing to me in the end. It felt set up for a good swerve in the last episode but the ending is basically what you expect from the beginning of the show. And the entire series ended up just being a sociopolitical statement about toxic masculinity and incel culture. Topics that have been beaten to death for the past 5 years or more. Some good acting and very long scenes. There were two scenes that each last for 20-30 minutes so they do give actors time to shine. But they could have told a much more interesting story.

That was pretty good. There are also some lengthy. comprehensive documentaries on the making of the "Child's Play (Chucky)", "Friday the 13th" and "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie series.

I really enjoyed it. The commentary from the guys who played the gang members was a lot of fun. I'll have to see if I can find the other stuff you mentioned. Thanks!

Paradise was pretty good. My only nitpicks were the time jumps, which sometimes we're tricky to navigate and the resolution of the first season, which, in my opinion, was just a bit too much.

Binged it as well but couldn’t disagree more!! I thought it was phenomenal! Acting was brilliant and each episode being a single cam, one take, made the story telling even more intense. While it did partly focus on toxic masculinity/incel culture as a cause, it was pretty clear (I thought) that it was more than just that. Online bullying, lack of engagement with our children and deteriorating educational system were just as much to blame. I felt like this whole point was there are so many things that you can point the finger to as to why things like this are happening, not just a single root cause.

I agree it was technically well done and it was an acting showcase. But the one take stuff is gimmicky and hurts the end product. They did use VFX in post production for some shots they couldn't do. But I definitely noticed some flubbed lines and some bad camera tracking at certain points that would have been fixed if they did a more traditional shoot. With good editing they could still make everything appear to be one shot while getting rid of the mistakes. But they wanted to make things as difficult as possible for themselves which was a choice. It has clearly been popular so most people are enjoying it. I also have trouble buying that kid as an incel. To me he looks and carries himself like a kid that would be popular in school and not have problems getting girlfriend. And the resolution seems to be more that he has a anger issue because his father does and his grandfather does doesn't really line up with the story of the Internet and Andrew Tate being the problem with society

The Elm Street one is from 2011 and called "Never Sleep Again". Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be streaming free anywhere. I think I saw it on NetFlix.

The Chucky one is from last year called "Doc Of Chucky" and it's currently streaming on Shudder.

The Friday The 13th is from 2013 and is called "Crystal Lake Memories" and it might be on AMC+, but I saw it on Shudder a few years ago.

Just watched Manhunt (on Apple TV) about the hunt for John Wilkes Booth. Pretty good, but I stumbled on to it because the guy who plays Booth was in a series I watched recently called Say Nothing. That one, about the conflict in Northern Ireland, was really good.

Is Altered Carbon worth watching?

On the fence after watching the first four episodes.

Severance. Everyone has been telling me I need to watch it. I binged both seasons in about 5 days. I've been on phycological sci fi kick lately and this is definitely one of the better if not best examples I've seen. And it's very cool and stylish in my opinion

Severance is really good. Apple TV is dropping a show called The Studio that is supposed to be very good.

It's a story that could get very confusing especially in series 2. It does get a little confusing trying to track everyone's innie and outie but they pull it off as good as it can be done. I don't think Ben Stiller gets nearly as much acclaim as he should as a director.
