Haha, that I can totally agree with!

My old LCS had stickers on the boxes. Wish I would have held onto a few more of those sealed!

Cardsin47: Hopefully when you sell this box one day, you will be honest with the buyer and disclose what you did.

Is there any leftover impression from the pen marks on the plastic? Under bright light can you see any evidence of the writing on the plastic from the pen marks?

and...........I'm BSing you! Strong work! Looks good.
You can see in the photo that even after the ink was removed, there was writing on the box. If I was buying the box and this wasn't disclosed, it would bother me. On the other hand, I'd have no problem with the ink still being there.

It's a bad idea to remove price stickers, promo stickers, writing, or dirt/mud (it happens) from a sealed item if the idea is to keep it as an investment. Instead of looking factory new, most likely you will leave behind sticker or pen residue and/or surface dents on the box at best, and scratching, stretching or ripping the plastic at worst. Any of things may become an issue for buyers at resale time.

I mean, I guess I could see an argument where that would be the noble thing to do to tell the potential buyer if you did any of the above, but I wouldn't feel like the seller pulled a fast one on me if they didn't disclose something like that.

I also wouldn't be discouraged from buying whatsoever if a seller did any of the above

I beg to differ, If done gently and with caution.

It looks like cardsin47 did a very good job and his "ink removal" was quite successful.

Plus: Bottom line, it's his box. If he wants to put permanent marker all over his box, and store it in a 100 degree room, that's his prerogative.

Agree. I would compliment the seller on what a good job they did removing the sticker/writing, etc...

I think the brightness is set too high in your device. I can see something in the photo that looks like surface impressions on the cardboard. Confirming whether or not they're from the writing would need a better photo.

And you've missed my point. This is the investment box thread. I assume any boxes shown here were bought with an eye towards selling to someone else. Obviously they might not be so happy with seller's prerogative to do whatever they want.

That's it, investment boxes are done.

Time to rip and allow people to enjoy the actual cards they came for in the first place.

Well, I guess he'll take a massive hit when he resells because whoever buys that box will see a very faint impression on the bottom under 10 x magnification and want $$$ off?

This is a ridiculous conversation. Cardsin47 stores/handles his boxes well.

Again, his box, his collection to do what he sees fit with it.

on the other side of the coin, he bragged about saving 1K because of the writing, which he then removed

The snark I don't mind... par for the course on BO.

However, you continually framing the discussion as some kind of slap on the wrist against cardsin is disingenuous and seems like a way for you to muzzle opinions you don't like.

I gave snark because of your sanctimonious attitude.

It's not my place or anyone else's to judge cardsin47 and what he does to HIS boxes.

He didn't ask for your opinion. He was simply showing how he removed pen from a box he purchased.

But by all means keep on offering opinions

Those are all great boxes. I actually purchased a sealed box of 1996 leaf signature about 9 years ago and opened it chasing the stars. I paid $125. No big stars but I did get the bronze, silver and gold autos of Will Clark, not too bad

Does Myslabs ship fairly quickly/safely? Never tried them, but strongly considering.

Seller has to ship within 3 business days after purchase is made.

So is the box stored at the "myslabs store" or does the seller have it?
