As expected, full apology by Brees.

Does it suck to have to hear all these bad takes from the "shut up and play" crowd because they just want to watch their sports and not have to think about the reality of what's going on in our society? Yes, but not anywhere close to how much it sucks to be on the receiving end of police brutality and other social injustice. I know we won't agree on the flag, but maybe we can agree that changes need to be made.

It goes both ways.

You guys found middle ground. Sometimes the middle is just agree to disagree. That's okay.

He didn't back down on his stance though, which I applaud him for. Many would have.

I wasn't referring to Brees. I'm talking about anyone who supports not kneeling during the national anthem. I feel that way and yet I have no consequences just like you don't for feeling the way you do.

Except you responded to being disturbed about the flag being called a piece of cloth and suggested if I knew someone that fought or died for the country I'd feel differently. You also didn't understand the fetishism comment, but that's fine. We disagree on the flag, not a big deal.
It's almost like you don't realize how many people have fought and died for your right to say what you're saying. Do you just dismiss Memorial Day too? Ironically almost 600,000 Americans fought to end slavery under that flag that means nothing to you. Do you even understand how and why you have the freedoms you have today?

You can whistle past the graveyard if you want, but the history of democratic states is not on your side. Notwithstanding the pot bubbling in front of you.

It won’t be an apocalypse, but it’s not going to end well.

Maybe to you that's what it is. How high and mighty you must be to think you speak for every American who celebrates our country. Newsflash, you don't.

Drew Brees is awesome and it is disgusting to see what has been said about him in the last 24-hours.

But let this be a lesson for anyone who dares to step out with independent, reasonable thought. No matter what you do for others, what you have done for your city, how terrific of a human being you have been throughout your life, if you step out of line; you will be beaten into submission until you bend a knee to the mob. No exceptions.

Anyone here willing to show me specifically what Brees said, unbiased manner, without commentary?

I don't even want to go looking for it ... it's nearly impossible to find facts devoid of misrepresentation anymore.

And we're saying (in our opinion) people should treat the flag like it is important. A hell of a lot of people died fighting under that flag.
If your mother worked for a shoe company that took advantage of underpaid foreign workers and I didn't like that, would you be ok with me protesting on her grave?
Some of us hold the same reverence towards that flag like we do our own ancestors.
Or should I take advantage of that opportunity no matter how uncomfortable it makes you or anyone else feels because that's part of the point?

“I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country. Let me just tell what I see or what I feel when the national anthem is played and when I look at the flag of the United States. I envision my two grandfathers, who fought for this country during World War II, one in the Army and one in the Marine Corp. Both risking their lives to protect our country and to try to make our country and this world a better place. So every time I stand with my hand over my heart looking at that flag and singing the national anthem, that’s what I think about. And in many cases, that brings me to tears, thinking about all that has been sacrificed. Not just those in the military, but for that matter, those throughout the civil rights movements of the ‘60s, and all that has been endured by so many people up until this point. And is everything right with our country right now? No, it is not. We still have a long way to go. But I think what you do by standing there and showing respect to the flag with your hand over your heart, is it shows unity. It shows that we are all in this together, we can all do better and that we are all part of the solution.”

Who is calling the peace protesters monsters? They have every right to protest and should be allowed to do so.

One day, there may be a cause that I feel strongly enough about where I want to protest and I hope I am allowed to do it.

What are you talking about?
