Has anyone seriously disputed that Trout remains the best player in baseball? The only critique raised that I see is that he has missed too many games the last 3 seasons

Plus this.. a lot more left in the tank than most people here give him credit for.

Probably just about everyone. Hard to keep the Title of Best Player while you’re not playing. If he stays healthy and keeps playing well thru at least the summer, he should slowly have his doubters silenced

I don’t believe anyone disputes it, they just don’t like it. He’s blue collar when it comes to baseball.
No bat flips, no swag, no gold chains, chest banging after a HR or big hit. No attitude or attention getting antics. He’s been the same amazing player since he arrived. The funny thing is Hank Aaron was like that. Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Willie Mays and so many more greats were too. Kids are taught to flaunt and showboat more and more because that’s what MLB and sports media want. They want the hype machines because they’d rather see WWE type characters instead of bland, boring superstars. Real baseball people know how great Trout is, and when Trouts career is over and the final numbers are tallied, they may not be the best of all time, but they will be an accumulation better than anyone else he played with who also debuted from 2011 on and either finished at the same time as he did or before. Harper is his closest peer IMO yet he is not even close to the player Trout is or has been over the last decade… but it’s not that close.

Trout injuries and missed games suck - but i love what I see from him, from a physical standpoint.

He looks in shape and most players who get fat contracts tend to slack off and get fat themselves.

Trout looks like he is ready to rock and roll for 5-8 more years. Hope all his speed (bat and running) stay together so he can finish off his career just as strong as he started....or close to it.

100 times, this.

He's been so good for so long people have become accustomed to his greatness. He'll pass Pete Rose in total WAR in a few weeks and it will take him 10,000 less at bats to do so, let me say that again, 10,000 less at bats.

He's the type of guy that when he finally hangs it up true baseball aficionados will pour over his stat lines in the same way the do for the greats you mentioned, he will become immortalized in that way.

There's a very good chance he'll be in the top 60 of all-time WAR leaders by the end of the year

2x World Series champ. VS a guy who goes to Eagles games and hunts storms in October. Yes very comical indeed.

Simple question, who do you think was better? Trent Dilfer or Dan Marino? And why?

Pablo Sandoval is a 4x WS Champ. Does that mean he's better than Trout and Mookie?

Might as well trade Trout for Dansby Swanson at this point.
