I would buy a raw contenders... with a CC.
Then overnight it to BGS or PSA for emergency verification of authenticity and to ensure it hasnt been trimmed or altered.

Mine is still ungraded and I bought it back in 2006. I don't intend on ever selling it, so I never bothered getting it graded. I'm pretty sure (and correct me if I'm wrong) the fakes didn't start surfacing until well after that.

I'd be more worried about trimmed/altered than fake. Yours is probably good since it was before the boom in prices.

PWCC auctions just ended. Someone got a good deal on a BGS 9 Mystique for $200. Raw Rookies & Stars went for $600

Yup, watched that one end last night. Was expecting it to jump a bit at the end. Looks like they are leveling off for the time being. Good call.

I agree. I think it is just like many other iconic cards. You get the talk and hype and they start to move quick. Once things settle down a bit they give back some of the gains and settle around a price most are comfotable paying.

Wonder if this jimmy trade affects brady prices at all... looks like he's serious about playing another 3-5 years. Now there's no way he's retiring after this year... he's going to break all the records.

Went for $5,000. I don't think it's a bad idea to resub old BGS labels. People forget how tough BGS was during a period of time on cards.

is it just me or does it seem that the prices on mid tier rookies are stalling? I'm trying to sell my Bowman, Chrome, and Metal and there's just a flood on ebay and the prices are slipping back...

yeah i have noticed prices on the mid to upper mid are pulling back a fair bit (>10%). a few folks have inquired on some of my brady rookies and the offers have been way down from where sales were at the start of preseason.

I always hear that BGS was harder and that Old Labels are better, but every time I have had one in person that has not been the case. The edges on that Brady in question are horrendous, and a regrade should result in a 7 or 7.5.

I noticed that as well the last few nights. Prices have settled down a little bit. Metal PSA 10 went for $450 on Wednesday which is about right and then went for $350 last night. Prices have been inconsistent lately.
