Holding onto a PSA 10 #700 Rainbow foil that I packed pulled hunting for an Acuna bat down over a year ago. Struck out on that but the Rainbow is a nice consolation prize.

That homerun reminded me of this old gif that I had saved of him...

I can't keep up with all that is going on. I thought he must have done something as my US1 rainbow foil PSA9 just sold on ebay. It's been up for one week.

My main regret with Ohtani was not grading his stuff from the get-go. He's been awesome for baseball - and the hobby - this year.

I'm mostly selling rather than buying purely because I accumulated a lot of his stuff in 2018.

My 150 card 2018 silver pack set just got a boost( 2 ohtani cards).

That set will be worth some money in years to come. Also has Soto, Acuna, Torres, Devers, Buehler, Flaherty and a host of others.

My best card is probably his HHN action variation.

I stupidly sold his 2018 Topps Chrome Refractor for $40 in February. That act will need to be blocked out in the years to come.

Yeah, that silver pack set is loaded. Sent in 10 packs to be slabbed by PSA.

Ohtani's rare stuff is definitely a hold at this point, and well worth grading.

Couple personal collection whales in QA2 at PSA - super pumped (smaller cards to the big guns here).

Although most don’t usually like the holiday versions, he is hitting and rookies of him hitting have a premium currently, even the rookie debut from update. I have 6 regular and these 2 metallics. Yes waiting for PSA BECASUE shot ani is a long hold and the Asian market will keep him hot if he keeps producing.

In late 2020, no one wanted Ohtani. This guy that knew I collected Ohtani came to me and asked for me to buy his Green Bowman cause he was having trouble selling it for $1,000 after sitting on eBay for two months. I reluctantly bought it for $800 cause he was a good guy and I have no self control with Ohtani.

Just got back from PSA. I thought it had a shot at a 10, but I'm happy. Welcome home.

I wish MLB would show this launch angle more often. Gives such a better idea of just how far these guys are blasting the ball!

Their bullpen has 2 respectable arms and everyone else is a tired retread or downright awful.

I think about the root cause and it's clearly ownership. The Hamilton/Pujols signing and impatience with reneging the Rengifo/Pederson trade (one is scuffling in the minors) is just scratching the surface. Until Arte stops handing out the "look at me!" contracts and starts getting some solid-average guys that get on base, it's going to be really tough to win. They don't have John Lackey, Jered Weaver, Garrett Anderson, and Chone Figgins landing in their lap this decade. Done with rant. Back to Ohtani.
The Angel's might be a miserable team but they were able to replace an injured MVP with possibly another MVP -- that's unheard of in sports.

Also, I wonder what's going on with Anthony Rendon -- his numbers are terrible.

Very, very nice.

Have you ever come across a 2018 Bowman Chrome rookie auto where he supposedly signed using the Japanese script?

They had an example of it on the Cardboard connection checklist( a blue refractor auto from memory) but I've never seen one or heard of one in the wild.

Yeah, he only signed one Bowman in Kanji and it was pulled by an older lady breaker and sold for ~$20k if memory serves correct. PSA slabbed it as a special Kanji version. That card caused a lot of hype, but the single blue proved to be the only one of it's kind to date. He also signed a few in Kanji for Topps Finest Orange Ref Autos. Those were on the market for a while but are now gone for obvious reasons.

COMC had 3 copies of his series 2 silver card( no.51) in a PSA9 on COMC for $29-$35. Something told me to pick them all up but I never did. Another lost opportunity. I sent my Soto off before the season started. In hindsight should've sent the Ohtanis and Acuna as well. Great looking cards.

If you could slab cards for $8 a throw I'd be tempted to grade the whole 150 card set as a long term project. I love the idea of graded sets. Holy grail stuff.

Man prices on commons are even starting to go insane right now. A raw bowman chrome rookie going for $75 + shipping and psa 10's going for $430.

I've got a decent little collection of Ohtani's but even as good as the prices are i think we all can imagine what they will be if he's able to pull out an MVP or at least put up an MVP type season since we all know the Angels are not a good team, and it hurts to say as they've always been my favorite team.

What are the rest of you guys thinking that hold way better cards than me? When are you looking to sell while we see prices keep climbing?

Money well spent. They have a knack for luring “MVP” type guys with tons of cash then watching them fade...

Kanji bowman auto was pulled by Leader of the Pack:

More details here:

There's an old thread about it on the forums from 2018 as well if you want to search.

I can only speak for my little PSA 10 #700 Rainbow foil. It's been climbing from about $250 in late March to the latest sale of $575 on May 18. Hopefully he keeps doing what he doing and I can see that card reaching $1k toward the end of the season if he's in the MVP hunt. Will be hard to turn that down if it get there since I basically have nothing into it.
