You’re projecting your recollection onto the wrong person. Next you’ll be arguing that we all wanted the NFL to become a game of two hand touch.

Basketball is getting pretty fun. Really enjoyed the Pacers-Warriors, the 76ers-Spurs was not bad. Even Grizz-Atlanta was competitive. I know from a hobby standpoint the wrong teams won.... there are organizations actively creating great teams, they just don't inhabit big markets.

The story lines and rivalries are definitely lacking.

I don’t think shooting a bunch of 3s is the real issue. Do y’all want to watch less efficient basketball? Do we want to bring back hero ball isos of the 2000s? Yuck

Do we want absolute defensive slugfests from the 90s? No thanks

You say this and then get upset when Ant shows some passion and cusses in an interview about officiating?

Wolves and Nuggs have a great rivalry. Nuggs also have rivalries with Lakers and Suns.

Hawks have good rivalries with Knicks and Celtics.

I dont have a problem with some post game swearing, I have a problem with Anthony Edwards’ attitude specifically.

I guess meeting once or twice in the playoffs counts as a rivalry now.

I get it that people hate watching LaMelo or Jordan Poole chuck up 1 legged 30fters but watching Stephon Marbury dribble for 20 seconds to take a contested mid ranger was pretty awful too

As a Cavs fan, I have to say that I'm having a lot of fun this year.

i 100% want defensive slugfests, i think that’s what pushes the elite playmakers to the top of the mountain! i also love the defensive side of competition more than offense in most sports so i’m probably in a large minority of where I find enjoyment and entertainment within competition.

Ever since 5 out came around it's just not a fun game to watch. They should call 3 sec if no one from the offensive team is moving.

I'm 39. Yeah I started watching NBA when I was 6. Was hoop-obsessed by the time I was 8.

If Nesmith is back, we should see back to back nice rivalry games Pacers vs. Celtics shortly. If I was Carlisle and the ankle gods aligned, I would ease him back in the lineup for the second game against Boston in Indy.

Take out his halfcourt heaves and Joker is shooting 55.5% from 3 this season.

Quote:
This year, Jokic has 8 end of quarter “heaves” in 24 games.

LeBron has 5 in his last 892 (since the start of the 2011-2012 season).

KD as 9 in his entire career, 1079 games.

Embiid has 12 in 441.

Tatum has 6 in 539.

Nice job, Ethical Honey. You earned your league-leading 51.4% on 3’s.

I wonder if another issue is that the kind of overperforming teams of last year, Pacers and T-Wolves to be exact, faltered and now fans have to learn new teams like Cavs that are probably not on the national TV radar. Meanwhile Warriors and Lakers can't mount anything credible with their aging leaders.

I don't think its possible for T-Wolves as constructed, but if the Pacers emerge as a go-to fun team again that epitomizes energy and pace, and I think they are on a good arc to that, it may be possible to salvage a sense of fun and rooting for an underdog. They have a lot of national TV games on the slate thanks to last season and they will reconnect with the general fans they hit during the playoffs if they knock off a couple titans.

Finally watching the Pacers- GS and that was a fun energy game. Indy doesn't look like it was on a back to back. The refs have fine-tuned their approach and we are not seeing the really ugly fouls that end careers.

I think NBAs problems are as simple as that.

The problem is teams like the Cavs and Pacers don't have any real superstars right now.

People want to tune in to see players that can Wow them on a nightly basis, the way LeBron, Kobe, and Curry did. The Pacers don't have anyone capable of doing that, and the Cavs only have one guy who has the potential to get there, and he's just coming into his own right now after his old coach almost spoiled him over the last two years.

At the end of the day, even a guy like Tatum isn't 'must see tv'. Until Giannis, Jokic, or Luka have teams around them to make them something you haven't seen before, or until Wemby truly comes into his own, the leagues going to have a problem that they don't have a truly elite level superstar for everybody to either love or hate.

No Euro player will ever be must-see TV.

I haven't watched many Christmas games in the past few years but I can't remember one better than this.

Inability to secure a rebound let them back in the game and bit them at the end

Impressed with the growth cause last year’s team showed deficiencies across the board, making those runs tough to come back from. They responded each time and made for a nice game. KAT AND Brunson lit them up last year so Mikal caught me off guard lol

This is where the game shifted though https://x.com/spursreporter/status/1...549407131?s=61

Nearly half the Celts possessions were 3's.

Imagine them actually closing the gap and winning by leveraging their distinct size advantages down low.

Just imagine.
