The subsets usually have even more holofoil to light up the card, so they're quite special too.
Precisely!

Yea Steve, the photography is incredible. Love how the gold UD logo looks as well, bit more layered/etched than the EC logo itself.

And just in today, one of my favorite but also most expensive Penny pickups so far - 97-98 Hoops High Voltage 500 Volts. Forgive the multiple shots.
I think I prefer that OG Credentials you've secured over those big boys you mention. Man that ones a peach!

Would be nice to see a picture of the High Voltage 500's little bro, side by side

So I was wondering then if you've got the 98 Starquest Gold?

Thanks, I think I was most concerned with its edges, but they really are in solid shape.

Thanks man. It almost has a kind of pinwheel effect going on when you move it around in light.

Yea I actually strongly prefer the 96 Credentials aesthetically. I appreciate the truly rare ones from the following year but they really don't touch the originals imo.

Good idea for a side by side shot, look purdy in a binder. And that's a negatory on the SQ Gold.

Two recent pickups. Really love the Apparitions refractor set, hope I can get my hands on a Kobe someday as well.

I've got a bold statement - High Voltage is superior aesthetically in comparison to its rare 500 counterpart. Of course I might be full of sh*t because I've never seen either in hand I've been super hesitant to pick up a box of 97/98 Hoops because I saw one break and the cards were all basically destroyed due to the brick effect.

Huskies11 with a cool couple but here's a lukewarm take, Topps Apparitions > Topps Chrome Apparitions non/Refractor.

I might have to look into these top loader binders. One size fits all! Its a constant struggle finding sleeves that fit consistently into binder pages...

Love that Court Masters by the way.

Can totally see why you'd find the standard nicer looking than the 500. It's cleaner and you can make out the main card design much better. When I got back into cards it took me a while to even notice how nice the 500s looked though, most pics were flat.

The Court Masters is great too, so much embossing going on. Really wish the photos were reversed, though. Still searching for the 96-97 version.

A couple more from me. I'm very close to completing the entire Dunk 'N Go Nuts set, but I've been very finicky about getting non-yellowed versions so it has been more challenging that it needs to be.

I probably should not post this here, but I get a serious T-Mac vibe. Maybe I spent too much time in Orlando in the 2000s.

I can feel you on the "gold" ones. It looks all right at first, but then you put it in a clear plastic case or before a white card in your binder, and bam! It's like a different card. I wonder if home made practices to remove cloudiness would work on them. Something tells me that it would not help the card to soak it in vinegar.

Nice stuff Huskies, I don’t have either one of those. If they had the older Magic uni I prob would’ve gone after them a while ago.

Just in, another all time favorite design.
The 97-98 E-XL Championship PMG

Dang, its weird seeing Penny in that Magic uniform. Sounds like you have similar turn offs as me. For example my extreme fondness for Shaq cards in Orlando whilst Laker cards somewhat flop (for me).

1:288 Thrill Seekers - Nice one. I've got a bunch of E-XL and they all bow dramatically once they are freed from packs, real pain in the arse to sleeve and top-load. How good is a card with this type of texture!!? Very.

Cutting off a small corner of a penny sleeve before putting in a card was one of the best pieces of advice I've ever read on here. But yea, I just love the contrast between the matte border and pmg design. Stunning set. It's a real shame they didn't use any black-bordered cards for some players though. The orange Duncan for example always irked me.

Recent grading return, was hoping for a 9 but the surface can be challenging on these. Love the design on this set.

Yea the die cut edge is so often an issue on these. My 8 I posted is a prime example. Great copy.

97-98 Skybox Premium Silky Smooth. One of the nicest looking inserts out there imo.

Haha, thanks man, not that smooth unfortunately. There’s a tear on the upper left of the net portion. Just glad to have one in hand, ever since buying the Hill a while ago I realized how beautiful they are in person.

Just in, took me way too long to grab this. Already have the Kobe and AI

Yea for sure, it’s so nice that it’s one of those sets where the aesthetics prove more important than the relatively easy odds (1:72).
