See one of my earlier posts below, atxlee.

Take Mark Jackson and George McCloud as examples.

Mark Jackson - regular autograph vs. with "God Bless U" inscription.
I believe that all 100 copies of his blue ink parallel contain the inscription as well.

George McCloud - regular vs. with jersey number signed.
I believe that all 100 copies of his blue ink parallel have his jersey number signed.

I also believe that Dennis Scott is the same case as George McCloud. I don't currently have one without his jersey number signed, but check eBay and you will see many copies.

Brian Grant and Loy Vaught both have copies with more detailed signatures.

thanks! I do remember seeing Dennis Scott's variation. So i guess the 96-97 set itself will still keep it interesting for me in terms of chasing these additional variations.

Thanks for the info, always interesting to chat and learn more from an autographics collector (not sure whether I can still term myself as such since I have already given up on sets beyond 96-97 )

Here is an interesting variation that I found for Joe Smith

Hmm with both the Joe Smith's side by side for comparison. I now wonder whether the horizontal is a fake but i can't fathom why would someone faked a Joe Smith auto. It does have the skybox stamp but we know that it could have been a bankruptcy stamp...

It might also be that Joe Smith signed his cards at multiple sessions. Just maybe.

There was a 1997-98 Charles Barkley Autographics BIN listing of $730. Needless to say, someone got the card and the listing ended quickly.
If any of you here got that card, it should be a pretty good deal IMO.

Default Does anyone still collect/build the original Fleer/SkyBox Autographics sets?

Anyone else think SGC graded a counterfeit 1996-97 Kevin Garnett here? Highly suspicious the seller didn’t post a pic of the back on the listing as well.

I have a feeling that the seller has no intention to sell all those Autographics at all. Could be wrong though.

=================================

Regarding the Garnett blue, the thick ink should be more or less a giveaway. I've never seen real Garnett cards, both black and blue, from the 1996-97 set signed in thick ink.

Oh, there is currently a 1997-98 Charles Barkley (regular version) auction going on, for those that are interested.

I'm currently putting together the 96-97 set. I'm just missing most of the bigger names:

Ray Allen
Grant Hill
Juwan Howard
Kevin Garnett
Steve Nash
Hakeem
George McCloud
Alonzo Mourning
Latrell Sprewell (only cheaper one)
Damon Stoudamire
Scottie Pippen

I have the 98-99 skybox autographics Pippen, I'd considered trading for 96-97, but my 98-99 is in such great shape

I'm also considering starting the 00-01 fleer autographics set. Kinda like a first and last set thing.

I started a little for this set, but the uncertainty about the checklist size makes me least active on building it. The checklists on Beckett website and the TCDB site differ greatly. I also suspect that some cards might only be available in parallels (/250 and /50).

interesting. Also with the stamped ones originally being in graded cases and the no stamped pack pulled is there 100 of the card to 50?

I have the following
no stamp unnumbered
no stamp /250
stamped unumbered
stamped /250
stamped /50

need the no stamp to /50

I don't know about the stamped/graded ones (called Signed, Sealed & Delivered). I am only going after the regular, non-stamped version for this set.
If anything, I will use the TCDB checklist, then make modifications if there are indeed some cards available in parallels only.

Can someone speak to the differences between parallels in the 00-01 set? It seems to me that the base, silver /250, and gold /50 look identical outside of the serial numbering stamp. Is that correct?

Here's all three side by side. Side note: seems to me like this is an excellent deal. NO idea of actual value, but if this is more than market value, the market doesn't know what it's doing.

Correct. For 2000-01 Fleer Autographics, the only difference between all base and parallel versions are the serial number stamps.

Wasn't the Autographics set also inserted into several different Fleer products as well (Ultra, Tradition, etc.)?

I remember reading in Beckett magazine back in the day that the Autographics checklist is one big clusterfock.

Yes, inserted in different products, but I am not too familiar with which products contain 2000-01 Fleer Autographics. As mentioned in one of my previous posts, this is the set that I am least active building.

Bumped into this thread while just surfing around, and boy does this bring back memories!

When I was a kid just starting out in cards, the early Autographics series were the very first autographed cards out there that could be obtained by busting packs. The 1997-98 series really caught my eye (and still does today!) - the simple and classy design, the star-studded checklist, etc - just beautiful. It was truly the holy grail (other than the signed Jordans from SPx at the time) - you always got excited whenever you opened a box of Skybox and got an Autographics (even better if it's a Century Marks!).

After that, Life™ happened and I moved onto other things. Seeing this thread I busted out an old box I had lying around and took some pics. Boy does this really bring me way back. I think I have about 20-odd of the Century Marks in the 97-98 set, way too few to get started on making a set, given the pretty ridiculous prices that they seem to be going for on the Bay currently.

One day.. maybe.. never say never!!
