Matt Laporta and Brett Lawrie for me. Not from a card perspective as much as a fantasy perspective. I think I took Lawrie in the 4th or 5th round after his solid couple of months in his rookie season. I'd prefer fantasy busts than buying a bunch of numbered autos and watching them bust.

In the 80s i bought hundreds of anthony young rc’s. He went on to set the record for most consecutive losses.

Milwaukee loved Brooks. Pitching out of the pen and pinch hitting and hitting bombs off the bench.

As an Angel fan/collector, the early 2000s top ranked farm system got me. Luckily I wasn’t as heavily invested as I would have been nowadays and I sold enough to recoup my initial investment. A handful of these guys had long successful careers (*), they just didn’t turn out to be hobby good.

Dallas McPherson
Casey Kotchman
Jeff Mathis
Ervin Santana*
Alberto Callaspo
Erick Aybar*
Howie Kendrick*
Mike Napoli*
Joe Saunders
Jeff Weaver*
Bobby Jenks
Sean Rodriguez
Brandon Wood

I did well obviously with Trout in 2009-2012 but this early 2000’s group really changed my buying habits. I dabble in prospects still if the price is right but I wait for them to have a little success in the majors before really buying in. It costs a little bit more but helps to mitigate the risk.

That would be a little tough. Anthony Young RC are in 1991 sets, he was a 90s MLB player

No it's the same Anthony Young, who had the infamous consecutive losses record. A 1990s guy but some just forget, nothing big.
