Play him one on one, let him score his 30, but don't let the rest of the team get open shots and beat you that way. It worked.

Luka got his 32... and man... he had to earn them, because he had some good defenders D'ing him up tight. He did a very good job scoring, other than his 3 point shooting.

But they also held him to 4 assists. The games where Luka is really gonna kill you is when he drops 30 with 10+ assists.

Wait you can game plan against elite talent? Lol they didn’t get the memo in Dallas.

But I totally agree. Also Simmons is terrific on ball defender and embiid is an elite rim protector so they are very very tough matchup for the Mavs.

The assists are hard to come by when he’s on the floor with Brunson (not a spot up shooter) and any combo of WCS, Powell and Melli for an extended period of time.

It was one of those nights where no one else showed up. A lot of times these guys are playing at their peak or above their ability. Last night they could't hit the broadside of a barn. I think i heard the announcers say they were 2 for 27 from 3 at one point. That's not gonna win you many games.

Since the Mavs got over being decimated by COVID, they have a .636% win percentage (over 33 games). Are we forgetting they basically went something like 12 games prior to this run without half their team, losing like 9 games through and coming out that period?

Doncic, Richardson, Finney-Smith, Kleber, and Porzingis have the second best win percentage of any starting line up in the NBA (.789 15/4), behind only the 76ers (.818 18/4).

There was also a graphic up last night that showed that the Mavs have something like the 5th best record in the league since the start of Feb.

The West is stacked. They'd be in fourth spot right now if they were playing in the East.

I know Dallas isn't winning a championship this year, but come on. The team is much better than people give them credit for. People act like they are a dumpster fire every time they lose a game, but I'd argue that as a complete team, they're actually punching way above their weight.

Man pretty much this.

But you have a lot of people invested heavily in Luka and they want to see progress.

They really only need a tweak or 2 and then it's just growth amongst themselves.

Luka is THE next guy. No doubt. But he is still immature himself. Horrendous body language and still too many poor possessions.

Unfortunately it's just a process until they get better.

If you sack Rick, who's gonna come in and make them better? Serious question. There's a lot worse coaches out there.

I think you'd rather have Rick come Playoff time than almost all the other coaches available.

I'm a believer DAL win a 1st round series. So we'll see.

Mavs back to the usual starting lineup tonight: Luka-Richardson-DFS-Kleber-KP. That starting lineup is (15-4). Only the 76ers starting lineup of Simmons-Curry-Green-Harris-Embiid at 19-4 has a better winning pct. among lineups w/ at least 15 starts ((20-4) if they beat Brooklyn).

Poor coaching and poor effort. Same story every loss. ESPN just showed they have 25 losses by 5 points the last two seasons. Most in the NBA. It’s all the little things this team doesn’t care to do that costs them these close games.

More emphasis needs to be put on Luka and KP taking more shots. Nobody else on this team is reliable enough.

And as I write that up... Jesus Luka.
