You all are going to regret selling now. I was watching a buzzed and/or high Blake earlier in the week on livestream and he said DON'T SELL and to BUY the already released cards. THAT is what I am doing! I am ignoring what has gone on in the market recently and instead choosing to trust the business acumen of a man none of us had ever heard of two months ago.

Sucks that happened to you man.

Better they just not pay instead of them paying then asking for a cancel/refund, lest you get hit with the PP fees.

smh u really dont understand what transpired. The market was artificially propped up by speculators who would only go thru with the transactions if someone bought it from them

This is tried and true. The supply of some of the later cards will be so great the ONLY way you'll be able to sell them is to add them to the more in demand cards in set form, be that Player Sets, Complete 400 Sets, Artist Sets.

I was laughed at and called negative when I said the I'd be able to buy THE ENTIRE Ichiro set for under $4K within 2 years. The BB Ichiro was $4.5K at the time. It's likely going to be under $4K for the set by the end of this year, because the cards that have value will continue to dip and then I can just buy the later releases at MSRP.

This concept of print on demand is not new. The set may be new, but the concept isn't.

The early birds fed demand early, Topps is feeding demand now.
Why are you defending your past comments...I did not address them I simply disagreed with the term idiot and more appropriately defined the economic phenomenon that took place last weekend. I also only addressed printed cards currently in the market. I have no crystal ball if demand will outpace supply of early cards nor do you we just differ on language used to communicate our thoughts.

The artist's incentive is to sell as many pieces as possible via Topps. They're paid on the profit or commission that Topps does. The more pieces they sell, the greater exposure they have on the secondary market.

Why would they want anyone to do anything except buy to begin with?

Optimal situation for these artists would be for print run to go to 500,000 and for the cards to be worth a quarter on the secondary market.

It's funny how quickly this went from sellers behaving badly to buyers behaving badly...

Just got ebay shipping notification for my Oldmanalan Rivera card that I pre-ordered for $17.25.

Been holding my breath on that one.

That's awesome. Gibson is the one guy I wish I was collecting from the beginning. His 59 Topps rookie is one of my all time favorites.

I’m imagining a framed collection of all 20 Gibsons at the end of December

Wow, what happened? I thought all the pumpers were saying this was the day that Gary Vee was going to speak and the cards were going to take off....

looks like all of us realists were right and my call of a peak in prices on Tuesday will most likely be correct..

eTopps all over again.... Topps Living for that matter too... Most people obviously don't learn and don't understand economics, supply and demand, and artificial scarcity. But hey, if you sold any of these cards for multiple thousands, congrats, got out while the getting was super good.

There are two hobbies represented here. Those in the hobby of collecting cards, and those in the hobby of trying to make money.

The worst part of all this dumping IMO?

It's not the money.

It's the fact that the way things are slowing down, this thread might not eclipse the Acuna thread.

After figuring everything yesterday morning, I had to leave for work before getting the chance to update this.

As of yesterday morning, the value of the above was $1,207,000, (roughly a $94,000 gain from the previous day). Price increases are starting to slow down.

As of this morning, (May 28th), the above is worth $1,151,000, (roughly a $57,000 drop).

Prices have tapered off as a whole over the last 24 hours. Thank goodness, as we needed a break! It will be interesting to see how things look over the next few days.
