With all due respect to Blake, Ben Baller, or other artists - what makes them qualified to determine which way the market is heading? None of them as far as I am aware were active in trading card market/flipping prior to P2020.

Blake’s work is fantastic, some of my favorite. In fact I’d be more interested in buying some of it as enlarged canvas to get autographs of the players rather than card form. That said, let’s be clear that all these artists have an incentive for a strong market. They get paid when cards sell via Topps. When there is a strong secondary market, more cards sell.

I’m not saying there is anything nefarious or wrong about it, but just because “Artist X” says buy, doesn’t mean it’s a lock.

It got moved to next week. This set is far from over. The ebbs and flows of Project 2020 continues.

As someone who has parents who weren't born when that '59 card came out, I only really got to experience Gibson via old World Series reruns and checking his (truly outlandish) page on baseball reference. First time I saw one of these Gibson cards I fell in love. I gritted my teeth buying that Grotesk Gibson at $200 but the rest of them have felt good to purchase. I'm still considering a Don C set and a Chang set if that Rivera falls even further.

As a seller, I'd love to see a bounce back in the market for the extra cards I've got in the mail. As a collector I'd love to see the prices fall farther. 1-400 is attainable if the prices on the first 20 keep falling.

looks like all of us realists were right and my call of a peak in prices on Tuesday will most likely be correct..

eTopps all over again.... Topps Living for that matter too... Most people obviously don't learn and don't understand economics, supply and demand, and artificial scarcity. But hey, if you sold any of these cards for multiple thousands, congrats, got out while the getting was super good.
Gary Vee got pushed to Thursday. So theres still a chance that there will be an uptick in prices. Alot of people are selling right now to take whatever profits they can get now and probably will look to buy back in at lower prices later if the prices start rising again after the new exposure to the Gaty Vee audience and the upcoming MLB interview with Blake Jamieson

Also, this type of stuff is beneath you.

Nobody is wanting others to "suffer" (FWIW nobody is suffering). Most just wanted the new entrants on the board who had never seen anything like this before to sell off and temper expecatations (since most of the talk is about the gains and dips of the cards as opposed to the cards/art themselves).

Securing the bag and taking gains, when that's whats been talked about non-stop for days is never a bad thing. Just don't secure the bag on eBay, because you'll likely get hit with a refund as these things drop and pay the 3% PP fee.

The Gibson 59 is classic. If you're going Don C, buy that Frank Thomas soon. Ripen is probably still available for $20.

Yeah! Leave that to Oldmanalan, incognito arbitor of taste and behind-the-scenes tastemaker! He'll tell you what's what and who's who!

This has been a fun ride. Looking forward to have a few more cards in hand next week.

If this thing becomes a rollercoaster as some predict, when the bad seller thread goes cold, the bad buyer thread will get hot. And then vice versa.

i dont know matt at all.

boredlawer is just that, bored

you, i cant figure you out. you want to buy the set in five years for under cost. you seemingly trash it whenever possible, which i guess helps your endgame

you may be some mathematician, as you constant post eBay numbers relating to sales and stuff like that

Everyone is panic selling and just trying to profit. I've been tracking prices since 12-May and from 23-May to 26-May and there was a 285% increase. It was just unsustainable but I didn't think it'd go down this much
