I think the quick flippers will make a easy profit, but the people buying them at inflated prices will lose their shirts over the long term.

Why?

Because the longer it goes on, the more likely it is that people start giving up on building the set, especially if they see how expensive it is going to be to "fill in" any cards that they miss. A lot of people are building the set now, but how many will have stuck with it two years from now?

And once that happens, singles will start to flood the market. You're also going to see higher print runs over the next few series as the flippers jump in, which will increase supply and depress prices for singles.

As one of your customers and a recipient of your Ohtani message, I'd like to thank you for all of the extra work that you are putting in to make sure we get nice-looking cards!

I sent in a handful of Judge's and Ohtani's. Bulk submission though...maybe they will be back by season's end.

It will be interesting to see at what point people start to determine that it's "too late to get in." After today we will be 21 cards in. As it stands now, if someone hadn't bought a single card, they would be dropping $700 or more on the set if they bought in today. That's not a small amount, but for serious collectors, it's not necessarily a large amount either.

I think once a year goes by with the show circuits and word of mouth, more people will buy in. Even if you can't collect them all, you can collect your favorite players and it's the only card they will ever have.

I think that should be a concern for flipping, but we also have to see how people collect beyond just the set collectors:

* Do some just get the RCs?
* Do some just collect their team?
* Do some just get the HOF/retired guys?

I don't know if this is true or false, but it is what I'm worried about as I'm holding mine so far.

I think newer people to the set will see that the only cards that are not plentiful on ebay are cards 2,3,5,6. I also believe that will be the case for the forseable future. Basically, it will take awhile for those cards to dry up or shoot price wise to the moon. so if it was me my thought process would be:
bite the bullett and pay large money for those 4 cards & then try to negotiate better prices on the others. Then, I would take the total of the cards I bought on the secondary market and start averaging them in with all the 5 dollar cards I bought. Thus it spreds the money throughout the set and in my brain (lol) I feel better about spending the larger money on those 4 cards. and that average price of each card comes down with every weeks purchase from that point on.

I think this is why team sets/hall of famer sets will do well down the road.

I'm doing the same. I'm not buying anyone in bulk though, just one extra and then maybe a few extra here and there. Although I'll probably buy a 20 card lot of Benintendi because he's my main PC.

ummmmm

I get a lot of things wrong...

But with commons coming in at 3000-4000 and guys like harper at only 9000

You look at super popular set like 2018 heritage.. how many cards of each player in that 30'000...

plus there will only be 1 maybe 2 of each player if traded...

This set is so short printed already.... i dont see it going down ever...

at worst your 14.99 set you buy each week will be 25-30 in a month....

Not sexy but better then everything else...
