Even Gary V couldn't save sports cards NFT's. It is dying a quick death.

It's because they are overpriced. I was picking up some base for my PC in the Marketplace but was only willing to pay $1 for low serial numbers (I did end up buying some higher ones at the end).

You pull something numbered to 800 and it's in the high hundreds? Can't move it.

I haven’t checked this thread in months.

Went pretty much as expected

According to the sub reddit, the whales are dumping their stuff. Is this the mass exodus that is coming?

I don't think much is moving, period. Even fairly low numbered superstar stuff is having a hard time getting any action. It seriously feels like a ghost town now.

Check out the sales history of any card. I'm serious. The liquidity is basically nil.

God I really wish some of the people who dumped on the Top Shot bears were still around. Some of the vitriol that was spewed was pretty crazy.

I'm still in the camp of burnings + the ability to buy common moments for sub-$1 can create an environment where some people come to collect.

Which still means that prices a ways to fall, and it'll be interesting if there is a point where the project gets abandoned or if it just lives on at much lower scale.

If it gets abandoned, what becomes of the contract they signed with the NBA? I would have to think at least they fulfill that.

I don't think there's enough true collectors of gifs for that to ever happen. I think now we're starting to see a true reflection of the demand for this stuff when value is placed aside.

From the outset, these were just specially rebadged Blockchain cards.

The NFT market isn't the market you should be worried about.

They probably get paid every year, so if they decide to stop early...there's nothing that the NBA can do about it.

This is doomed if tens of thousands of gifs are released to the public each week. When supply goes up, demand goes down.

Whales are scooping up Lebron TC like candy- not this carp. Whales have money because they can see through scams like this. They didn't get rich by doing what everybody else did. The majority of people pumping this on Blowout have had an account less than a year. They were late to the card game, can't afford blue chips, so they see this as their way to get rich. And it ain't gonna happen. I feel bad for them.

These aren't cards. These are future bad decisions. And as such, they don't belong on the basketball card forum.

I'm glad you got yours (and sorry for the losers), but this stuff was DOA as a long-term challenger to cards.

Nah I‘m sure something will happen soon, not sure if Fanatics still have the funds to takeover PA, but some sort of co-operation/licensing agreement will happen.

…. not the first time that the Fanatics collectibles URL was seen on Panini sites

It's because what you said ninja, there aren't enough collectors. But that's fine.

If anything, Panini at least has tried to fix some fundamental issues with the platform. It's improved way more than TS in the last 6 months. I'm a small fish but at this point I think I have more NFTs in Panini than in TS.

I do it all to collect specially since it's cheap. But there are a few things that Panini can do to improve the experience overall:

- Cheaper packs (10 bucks is way too much for most of them)
- Bulk offers (some cards aren't moving at $1. Allow users to send offers for a bunch of them and people will move them under that)
- Multi-platform search (when searching by team/player, I have to do it on Gallery, Auctions and Crypto Market)

Anyone else seeing there collections losing a ton of value lately? I've seen people lose so much money right now, as collection values are down across the platform.

I'll agree that while panini isn't perfect and has oversupplied, They have leapfrogged any dapper product imo. Not saying I have total confidence in them, but they have a great product. Terrible vision, but a great product.

Nobody a year ago thought panini would introduce pack sales before dapper.

Top Shot whales are leaving and cashing out. The platform is dying fast. Wouldn’t be shocked if it’s dead by the end of the season.
